Boston MKIIICs(a-20C) arrived in UK in 1942 (may) first operations in july of that same year with RAF's 226 squadron.
speed 342mph i think, seems it got slower and slower as it got adapted for each mark.Perhaps more bombloads caused this?
and if the A-20 G is 2,600lb my guess is 2002lb or so for the MKIII or A-20C.not much on the A-20C in my books unfortunately.
heres the specs for A20G:
powerplant:2x 1600HP Wright R-2600-23 radial pistons
max speed:339mph at 12,400ft
climb to 10,000ft 7.1 minutes
ceiling 25,800ft
Armament six 50 cals in nose two 50 cals in dorsal turret bomb load of 2,600lb
early versions were loaded with four 20mm and two 50cals in the nose but later versions had cannons removed in favour of 4 more 50cals and external bombracks that doubled the bombload to 4,000lb.
judging by what ive read on the boston the A-20B was the fastest but as gross weight increased in a-20C the speed fell off. This probably means the A-20C had the bigger loadout but i cant be sure.
obviously this isnt the same version so i cant give you pproper details but im pretty sure the a-20G was the hard nosed version, therefore the six 50 cals in the nose isnt applicable to the MkIII.
Looks like its going to stuggle if all it has is a limited traverse rear dorsal with 2x50 cals
in fact with no nose guns (or maybe 2x50 in nose if we are lucky?) its certainly not a perfect MA bomber.
funniest thing of all is i mistook it for the baltimore then the beaufort! they are incredibly similar aircraft.Take a look at them.
A strange choice of bomber from HTC but a rare one as far as other sims are concerned.I think the fact we've never seen one in any other flight sim might have a lot to do with it.
I really like the look of it myself.
