Windows XP = sounds dropping out
« on: April 06, 2002, 12:24:05 AM »
Since I installed XP my sounds drop out after about 20 minutes. Actuall it can be 5  minutes to 3 hours or not at all.  No pattern here.  I have to reboot to restore sounds.

When they drop out, they only play the first 1 second of the sound.  So that if I shoot a gun, i get the first blast nothing more. If I change the throttle, I get 1 second and silence.  The same on every sound.

anyone?  anyone?

Aureal Sound card.

I have Windows XP too. It is your sound card. You need to go get another one, with my Turtle Beach (really old) sound card there was no pattern to how it would cut out or anything. The thing is that the sound care needs to be upgraded.

I turned down the hardware acceleration in the audio and had no more problems last night.  Lets see if it lasts.

It could also be an issue with the network card sharing?  Will look into that also.

Thanks,
