More Japanese Aircrafts for PAW.
« on: April 06, 2002, 04:05:58 PM »
Konnichiwa all. ;)

As you know, HTC has released a lot of derived models of the aircraft (example: F4U, Fw190).
There is a suggestion, I want HTC to release the following Japanese aircrafts in AH 1.10.

Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force:
1) A6M3 Model 22 (ZEKE 22)
2) A6M5c Model 52 (ZEKE 52)
3) N1K1-J (George 11)
4) N1K1 (Rex 11)

Imperial Japanese Army Air Force:
1) Ki-61-I-b
    590km/h at 4800m
    580km/h at 8000m
    5'30" to 5000m
    10'48" to 8000m
    12.7mm*4
    100 - 250kgs*2 bombs
2) Ki-61-II
    610km/h at 6000m
    544km/h at 10000m
    6'30" to 5000m
    12.7mm*2 20mm*2
    250kg*2 bombs
3) Ki-100-I-b
    580km/h at 6000m
    6'00" to 5000m
    12.7mm*2 20mm*2
    250kg*2 bombs

Of course, I always hope that completely new Japanese aircrafts (Ki-43, Ki-44, Ki-84, J2M, etc) would be released.
But I think that these aircrafts which listed here, are easier to release than perfect new ones.

Don't you enjoy Pacific Air War? :)

I don't know if you guys have heard about it, but Monogram released a book of Japanese aircraft interiors.  I am not sure if the Grace has a pic in it, but leafing through it, I saw quite a few different planes in there.

Check it out here at Amazon.  Hope this helps.

Doing a serach on http://www.greatmodels.com nabbed a few more details than what Amazon provides.  This is the information
that great models provides for it:

Quote
Robert Mikesh. The new and definitive work on Japanese a/c interiors. Dozens of drawings, including cutaways, 906 full color and B&W photos, 304 pgs, 9"x12."

The Japanese are still lacking in bombers, esp. navy bombers.

What I think we most desperately need fot the pacific is:

Early A6M
Kate
Val

F4F
SBD

No more Japanese A/C until we have confirmation they'll get the name(s) and model number(s) right!

eskimo,

They're also lacking competitve fighters.

They have 1, and it is always so limited in the Pac CT environment that it has no effect.

They need the Ki-44-IIb and Ki-84-Ia to give them a real chance at air superiority.

A B6N2 or B7A2 would give them a carrier strik aircraft that would be usable with the current planeset.

I would hope that HTC does one of two things (or both :)).

1: Finish the late/mid war PTO plane set by adding a SB2C for the USN, and a B6N Jill and D4Y Judy for the IJN - can anyone say Philippine Sea?

and/or

2: Create an early war CV set of SBD and F4F for the USN (we can use the TBM here since it was in 2 of the 4 CV battles of 1942 and the only real difference between the -3 and the -1 that took part was the addition of rockets and 2 50's firing forward instead of the single in the cowl).  For the IJN, we would need an early Zeke (the A6M2 21), the D3A2 Val and the B5N2 Kate.  Can anyone say Midway or Santa Cruz?

I would like both and really have no preference for either set (well, that isn't true, I love the F6F and would like to fly it in a late war CV battle, but I also like the F4F and want to "Thach Weave" some Zekes with a wingman :)).

Like your First proposal Math - Give the USN the "Beast" and the IJN the JILL & JUDY. Then things could get real interesting in the PTO based scenarios and in the CT.

Brady.... You are "still" the ONLY ONE that wants a flippin GRACE. :p  LOL!

What about theses.

The Nakajima B5N Kate did not have armor, self-sealing tanks, forward firing MG (Only one 7.7mm in the rear) Kamikaze plane only, I reckon. Is it worth it? More is always better. Top speed 235mph

The Nakjima B6N Jill had 2 7.7mm forward and a ventral MG (7.7mm?) It replaced the Kate in 1943. reports call the Jill as not much better that Kate.
Top speed 301 mph.

For a PTO IJN early planeset:
KI-43/ Oscar / Fighter (intro.1941)
KI-27/ Nate / Fighter (intro.1938)
KI-45/ Nick / Sort of a JAAF's version of Me-110 (intro.1942)
B5N/ Kate / Torpedo bomber (intro.1938)
D3A1, VAL / Dive bomber (intro. 1940)
D2Y2, Judy / Dive bomber (intro. 1942)

For a PTO IJN late planeset:
KI-84/ Frank / Fighter (intro . 1944)
KI-100/ Fighter (intro. 1945,Basiclly a radial version of the Ki-61)
B6N/ Jill / Torpedo Bomber (intro. 1943)
