Bloom25 or any other techies, got a tough one for yah.
« on: April 07, 2002, 11:54:54 PM »
All of a sudden if I try to play any game  Aces High, Subspace, Jedi Knight 2 you name it.. directx or opengl games doesn't matter my sytem will either lock up or reboot automatically. Ive tried multiple drivers for my video card and have formated my system twice with the same results. On this last crash an interesting error msg came up when the screen went blank here it is

" RAGE6 P/N 113-70702-100 DDR(with dll) NTSC BIOS "

From looking at the error msg do you think it could be my system Ram that is hosed or the ram on the video card? Is there any proggies that can do a check on RAM?

this is really weird cause my system was running fine for 6 months up to this point.. I can database, surf the web, but as soon as I try to use 3D hardware My system dumps.

Ive updated my bios, I'm running them at default settings with agp at 124

Im running WinXP Prof.  os
Systems in sig....

Any input is great appreciated, Im gonna borrow my buddies GF2 256 and see if I get the same errors.

my CPU is running at 113.. system is 93..All the fans are running. Cant tell what the Radeon card is running at. I put an aftermarket fan on it and Heatsinks on the RAM. I just put a GF2 256 card in my system and ran Jedi Knight 2 (in safe mode) without a lockup.. guess I killed my video card somehow.

That's not actually an error message, that actually appears everytime you power up the computer.  You monitor just doesn't allow you to see it except during a "warm" reboot.

That's just the video card initializing itself.  It looks like you have a Radeon card with TV out.

If your system reboots after starting any game, and you mentioned it doesn't matter whether it's DX or OpenGL, the blame probably lies with one of these causes:

1.  Video card is broken.
2.  AGP drivers for your motherboard are corrupt or not loaded.
3.  Video card is overheating.
4.  Video card drivers are corrupted or not properly installed.  (I've seen some ATI driver installers try to automatically install the INCORRECT driver by default.  Make sure the correct driver for your card is selected.  Specifically in my case the installer tried to install Rage Magnum drivers on an Xpert 128.)
5.  General heat and/or power supply issues.
