Suggestion for HTC...Landing/Rearm/REPAIR

HTC Staffers,

Your game rocks....I have one suggestion that I would love to see and so would some others Im sure.  If you land a plane and rearm refuel and take off thats way cool.....

Now can we put a feature in that if you rearm and refuel a shot up plane (i.e. you were good enough to limp that puppy all the way back) it can repair the plane on the rearm pad....or taxi to a hangar?  You could make the time for repairs like a min or two whatever you see fit based on damage....that would be really cool.  Then players could decide to wait for the repairs or get a new jet.

Could trade perks for the repair.

Also, would be great to be able to change loadout at the rearm pad.

I'm all for it, except when you land and your wheels stop- your sortie ends and a new one begins. For scoring and perk point purposes.

I think it should of already been implemented, as of right now the rearm pad is just used to pad scores.

For repair or to change loadout make people taxi to a hanger, and it takes longer...  :)

In my case, longer is a long time.  New wings, new engines, new empennage, new cockpit, surgury to remove the bullets from my spleen...  :D  :D

Ok, I'm not an expert here but I thought that when a plane returned from a sortie, reloaded/refueled and relaunched it was the start of a new sortie.   Squadrons would launch several sorties in a days operation.    

I would like to see the ability to rearm and repair if you choose, only so that cabability is available when hangers are down.   It should also cost a few perk points to do this.   Oil or Fuel leaks should be cheap, while major structural damage like wing tips or Rudders should be more expensive.  And if your engine seizes it should be very costly to repair.

I agree with the trade in for perkies as well.....but keep the costs low.

One variation to that theme....

How about you bring a badly mangled plane home, roll off the runway 3 feet and the engine dies so you cant roll back onto the runway and get that precious "Landed Sucessfully" message?

How about if you manage to land intact and are within a more gracious distance of the base?  (100 yards, etc?)

Just a thought.  Lost a few perked planes due to engines out, overshot the runway by just a few feet and lost point :(

Great idea that comes up in many different forms from time to time.

Charge perks to repair, change load out options, stop the sortie, continue the kill counter.

I have mixed feelings about this. During Bigweek I had my engine die from starvation while attacking a B17 at 23K in an FW A8. Having to land ON the runway and roll to a stop ON the rearm pad made for a very hairy white knuckle affair. I made it and was able to continue on until endframe. In the MA the immersion isn't as ...ummm..immersive and having to get your wheels to stop on the RW while not very historic it does add to the immersion factor IMO. Bringing in a damaged bird and getting that succesfull landing will make you sweat as much as anything else AH has to offer IMO.

Now, the ability of a squadmate or some GV jocky to "push" you onto the RW or rearm pad would be interesting. Little tractor "mules" with a .50cal to beat off the vulchers would be fun :D

What's the difference between bringing a shot up plane to pad, starting a new sortie, rearming, refueling and burning a few perc points to repair the plane OR just getting out of the plane and having all that accomplished without burning perc points?

I think the repair feature would be a terrible idea.  It's unrealistic and gamey.  There are already to many gamey unrealistic aspects in this game (thinks of how buffs are flying M1A1's), why bring on more?  :confused:

Well Kuben I disagree....

You should get credit for landing a plane that is all shot up.  It is pretty damn tough to land a beast with little right wing...or lets say little right wing and then have both your engines die....that takes real skill to land the thing and there should be some sort of credit for that.

As for people calling that gamey....what the heck is bailing?  If you bail over enemy territory should you have to evade like a person going to be a POW...or can you just hop up in the plane at a new tower and voila?

No I definitely think there should be some credit for limping a crippled bird home!  :)

You do get credit for it...if you land it you get all your perc points as opposed to bailing where you only get a portion:

Death Multipliers

Landed x 1.0
Discoed x .25
Bailed x .50
Ditched x .75
Captured x .40
Killed x .25
Crashed x .25

Maybe I don't understand what you're saying...
Initially you wanted to be able to repair on the pad along with the other pad options currently in place but now we're talking about getting credit for landing a plane that is shot up.  Seriously, I'm not attacking you or your idea in any way...honestly.  I'm just trying to understand what you're asking for.

What I am asking for is if lets say I limp a P38 back to base with or without kills.....It has its right rudder and wing chopped up to pieces and engines smoking.

I would like to be able to land that plane....get to the rearm/refuel pad and have it repaired so that I can continue my killing streak....thats it.....if I work so long to bring that ride back I want the Lucky Girl to be repaired and continue the streak.

Right now you cant do that...thats all im saying.

Well my main gripe with getting magic repairs is the realism . And yes I realize that getting topped off and hardpoints rearmed in 30 seconds is untrealistic, it would probably take, (and I'm guessing out my arse here) at least 10 minutes . However to repair a plane completely would take days, and to be able to do it on a touch and go time scale would be just quakish imo.

Also you would need to enable CM commands to disable it for events .

I do agree with Lepaul though, if you rtb it should never count as a ditch, after all you returned it to base, how  that can be considered a ditch I've never understood .
