Yup, can't beleive this.

A few weeks ago, the local power company, who has the highest rates in the state, announced they were requesting a rate increase from the Public Utilities Commission.  5th increase in 5 years.  

The PUC said, effectively, "Nah, let's look at your books instead".  Power company asked to have it put off 3 months and instead, is laying off a lot of people and withdrawing its request for a rate hike.

So...the newspaper reported all this and had link/email where you could tell the PUC your thoughts.  So, I did.  Well, that's part of the public record and the NEWs saw it, and really liked what I said.  Last night, on the way home, I got a call from the newspaper asking for a interview and photosession today.  We just wrapped it up and I think they took more pics of me and the dog than anything else

But wow.  Run thy mouth and if people like it, watch out for the news crews! hehe  If the online version carries the picture/article, I'll post a link

Well, I don't think I'll be the victim of the week, but I certainly do not regret telling the power company I think they are kooks.

But, I'm in the process of moving to a new apartment and have to call them about getting the power bill put in my name.  That should be fun....

Nah... I think yer safe. Papers want a good story (of course). They want a good dust up. In all probability they will make you come across better than you actually did. Otherwise, how would it read: "We interviewed Mr. Peebles and he said "I think it sucks". That's not what they're looking for here. Reporters will certainly slant things... no doubt... but here I think your gonna be the benefactor of the slanting.

I was an airport manager for 10 years, (retired) and if I've learned nothing else, I've learned to never talk to newsies if I can avoid it. If you speak to them, they will twist it around to suit their take on the situation - otoh, if you dont they will say you refused to comment or some other so you are perceived to be hiding something.

I wrote a letter to the editors once or twice, lambasting a report/story about the airport and the crew - felt good. The public was glad I did, as they had gotten an entirely different opinion of the situation from the paper.
