Troop carrying truck needed
« on: April 20, 2000, 03:53:00 PM »
We need one of those troop carrying trucks (M-35?) to add to the ground element.

What would be neat is if we could load up ten people in a goon or truck as well and run to the map room!

That truck or halftrack should be available in several different loadouts.

A M16/ Panzer ammo supply truck. Pretty self explainitory, but very nice for hitting those large targets with a armoured group.

B M16/ Panzer repair truck. Pull up alongside damaged vehicle, set a time to repair a tread, or engine.

C Paratroops 5 or 10 paratroops that can be delievered to the door.

D fuel (once it's modeled in vehicles)

Would be lightly armored at best so you'd need a M16 & a panzer as escort if you expect them to survive.

This would make possible a large armoured column thrust into enemy territory.

-Yeager passes the trophy to Leonid-

What about requiring *people* to load up C47s and troop trucks instead of AI troops.
We all know what its like to run around on the ground <G>.

Imagine sitting in the back of a C47 (or truck) with nine other bloaks, knowing that the long dull ride is frought with danger only to experience the rush of adrenalin
when the boss pulls the trigger

I just finished work on the M3 troop transport yesterday.  It will not be implemented until 1.03.

Exactly Yeager. Imagine being one of 5 troops lying on the hillside, waiting for the "all clear" to be given. Imagine running toward the map room, actually using cover to avoid detection and ground fire. Imagine further having some grenades or anti-tank guns to tackle those spawn points.

Mouth waters....

I had been a 'Truck' advocate for a while because I figured it would be fairer to have something unarmored to carry troops. But after a little thought, I think the M3 is the way to go.  With trucks we would need roads.  From my reallife experience in the US Army, wheeled vehicles can't keep up with tracked vehicles off-road. We have to remember that the ground isn't as flat as it is modeled here.
By the way, I live a few blocks from a guy that has a vintage fully restored M3.  I could possibly arrange to take some pictures of it if you want.

IF we are going to use real people to take fields instead of AI, it is almost a must that they carry hand guns to defend them selves against acks and other cars and stuff.

I would be really cool, but I guess that troopers will stay AI for a while in AH

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.
