soundcard for frame rates?

In the help file there is a sugestion to upgrade sound card to increase frame rates. Does this work? Right now I have a sound blaster 16 pci.

some cards use more CPU power than others.  ISA cards were bad in this regard.

Most of the newer cards use very little cpu

I just upgraded from an SB16 PCI to a SB XGamer. I have't noticed any frame rate increase but I have noticed less of a frame hit when close to a convoy under attack . My throttle no longer spikes with the new card also.
