GROWL NASCAR 2002:   http://www.vpaddock.com/index.php

This League is nearly a year old and members are all flightsim players(WB's, AH, IL-2, WWIIOL, etc.)

Would really love to give this a go. I've had NR2002 for about a month now and think it's great. Sadly being on 56k dialup and 250 pings across the pond would probably mean I would just get in the way. That's the main reason I have never entered any of the GPL leagues, As long as I stick to the UK servers I get along OK but once I start to hit 200+ it all gets very hairy :(

One day ASDL will drag itself out here.

Would love to join, but I just can't see how I wouldn't be banned like Harvick first race.

Mind you I would race as fair and best I could, like on TEN, remember that? It was the best online multiplayer experience ever, Nascar or not, even better than AH now, WAAAAY back. I had my brother run a race and his leg was involuntarily shaking at the start. Great stuff.

Rank there was the ultimate online controller of conduct and realism. It worked well, and I always was immersed, and played accordingly. This ain’t hoopty chute killing, you had to plan, position, and stay alive, THEN shoot it out.

I kinda got good at, but still, I'd drop the inevitable wheel off the race line and the banking would shoot me back threw the crowd with impending destruction. Or lag would make the best move one that seemed hideous.

Now, with clean connects, it could be awesome. Not being one which I would do very well at, but screw ups would be lessened without lag, and I’d pry just finish top 15 going for “Patience” and realism, holding back for the tard train wreck, and looking for a top 10.

It would set me back cash for a new wheel and pedal set as my Logitech force-feedback never had the “feel” of the old Thrustmaster “T2” I finally scrapped after 2 bungy changes, but if the races were in my time frame, hell yes I’ll drive, and fairly too.

It’s a gentleman’s game, and hard core, ten fold.

I played it when it was beta and you had to dial up to get in (somewhere back east).  I rang up a $300 long distance bill one month.

I don't know that any game I've ever played has given me quite the adreineline rush that did back then.

The AKs currently have a racing leage, but I find it hard to get the practice time in necessary to avoid looking like a fool on the track.

It was expensive, indeed Deja. Well worth it too.

I don’t think a league would happen all-a-sudden via AH, but the GROWL is promising. I’ll check the schedule, and format. The initial links were broken on my end from Cabby’s post. I’ll try again. Still, squad related AH races are a option.

As I remember, GROWL does not coincide with my time frame, but that, in fact, (my work hours) has change just recently.

Go Benson.

there's a RRSL league forming right now...

I'll get the info when I get home and paste it later for those that are interested.

One of the questions they ask is what kind of connect you have.
Trying to get high-speed (less lag) and experience to avoid the demolition-derby style Nascar.

Long time no see gang!  I havent been to these boards in a while and stumbled across this thread.  I actually gave up AH about a year ago to spend more time racing N2002 :)

N2002 is a great racing sim.   I run a couple of leagues myself and find that the adrenaline rush of running side by side 80 laps at Daytona to definately fill my loss of AH.  Plus my desk at home is a little less cluttered now that I dont have joystick/throttle and pedals laying around.

If any of you see either SR_Fritz or mark_fritzlen in the lobby at N2002, say hi!

I've had NASCAR Racing 2002 since February and have driven it off and on, mostly around Daytona, Watkins Glenn, and Pocono (the three best tracks in the bunch).  I even started a message board (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NASCARRacing2002/) and posted up some paint jobs.  Right now I'm splitting my time between AH and some mods I d/led for EASports' F1 2001 from http://www.rsdg.net.  When I'm not flying around NDIsles in a FW190A8, I'm turning lap times at Sebring in an Audi R6.

I haven't mastered the art of taking the corner.  I tend to dive too low on entry, then am forced to brake hard as I slide up the track into traffic.  I'm still game for an online race, though.  Fines be damned! ;)

Here is one of my cars.  There are more at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NASCARRacing2002/

I have a few more that I haven't posted yet.  Maybe I'll do that this weekend if I don't get a chance to finish up a couple of models I'm working on.

Ok, I checked the GROWL schedule and it shows races on Wednesday nights, with 2 races left in the season.  What do I need to do to join?

The Wednesday races are closed for right now since we're nearing the end of the points season.  However, every Friday night there is an open "IROC" run with several different tracks.  For the IROC stuff we run fixed setups, no yellows and only a short race.  They'll run 4 or 5 tracks for the night.  There's also a race on Monday nights with open setups.  It's used as a practice race for the Wednesday points battle.  The Monday night races are open to anyone that wants to come out.

The forums and connection info is here http://forums.speedgeezers.com/cgi-bin/iB311/ikonboard.cgi?&&CODE=04

We usually have about 15-20 drivers racing, some even on dial-up access.  We use a dedicated server, so warping is minimal.

I downloaded the demo - seems like a good time. Problem is though, it wont let me steer the car with my CH USB fighter stick - hafta use the rudders to steer. Keep overcontroling and hitting the wall.

Any advice, tips would be appreciated...
Thanks
