My post was five minutes before Math's, and five minutes AFTER Nate's.  I couldn't believe it hadn't been noticed yet.

Off the top of my head, I know the F4F is slower and worse climbing.  As far as maneuverability, I believe the F6F has the edge on the F4F, but the FM-2 is better than the F6F.  F4F has shorter range and less ammo.  You can think of the F4F almost as an underpowered F6F, because that is pretty much what the F4F is (not exactly, I know, but very similar).

FM-2 is basically a souped up F4F.  More powerful engine, lighter, 4 guns, etc.  Not sure about the speed difference, but maneuverability it is far superior and climbs much better.  I can't think of the difference between the F6F and FM-2 performance wise (other than speed, where F6F has the advantage).

I will look it up tonight and give you a much better comparison if you want.

p.s. Deja, you really think so?  ;)

S!

Wildcats would both turn inside a Hellcat easily.  Much lower wingloading.  Climb and speed way down though.  Slower than A6M2 zero.  Still has six .50`s in the wings though and built like a tank...  :)

Basically deadmeat in a slo turnfight versus a Zero.  But easily outmaneuvers it at higher speed.  Gotta fight in teams with Wildcat.

Compared to German planes, would outturn a 109 or 190 without difficultly.   Better high speed handling than 109.  Much slower.

You`re gonna see it in the CT in Guadalcanal, Slot Setup.  :)

Plus in the Med, as part of a Malta `42 Setup.  :D

sweet.. can't wait.

Thanks Math.  I get the picture and will definately be trying to learn it.  I love the hellcat and think it'd be a blast to use the Wildcat in early war arenas/setups

Don't know much about the real f4f's but in AW if any of you remember, it was slow but turned like mad. Someone taught me how to fly it there w full flaps against zekes. The zekes here tho are much faster and climb a whole lot better IMO.

F4F, excellent!  Now that the early war crates are pouring in, maybe its time for a Brewster? After all, it did win the Navy contract against the F4F. :)
