Yea! F4F's are good

. I want a Brewster too! And a Ki-43 (especially!!!), Ki-44, and an A6M2. Oh, and a P-39 (with a P-400 armnament option if the performance difference wasnt that big) and a P-40. And a P-38G or J. And a P-47B. And.. uh.. well I can't think of anything else I want. Oh wait, an A6M5, and an I-15, and an I-16. Hehe.

About the Wildcat turning, would it be able to out turn our 109E4 easily? I think our E4 might turn too well, to be honest. I can rack it around pretty good, I'd guess at least as well as a F6F (but it is slower).

I think the FM-2 might see some regular use, it was a pretty handy little plane from what I've read (in Americas Hundred Thousand). It could turn really well, and it climbed pretty well too. It was slow though, but a lot of slow planes see use. If it can turn with a Spitfire, you'll see it in the MA.

We need more early war Japanese planes. I would love to have some early war PTO scenarios with A20s, wildcats, zekes, and any other early war PTO planes we might get.

Which version of the Ki-43 do we want?

The most produced was the Ki-43-IIa which was armed wih 2 12.7mm machine guns, each with 250 rounds. The first prototype Ki-43-IIb first flew in Febuary of 1942.

The Ki-43-I entered production in March, 1941 and came in the Ia (two 7.7mm Type 80 machine guns), Ib (one 12.7mm and one 7.7mm machine gun) and Ic (two 12.7mm machine guns). The Ki-43-I had a top speed of 308mph, no armor and no self sealing tanks.

The Ki-43-II had some armor and self sealing tanks added. The Ki-43-II had a top speed of 320mph and an initial climb of 3,250ft per minute.

All Ki-43s were so lightly built that they broke up when hit, however they also outmanuvered anything else in the air, even A6Ms.

I think the Ki-43-II would be preferable. Its still early war, but has teo 12.7mm guns and so has a hope of actually downing a F4F or P-40.

As to the P-38, I think we need a P-38F. The P-38J is way to modern, being only fractionally older than the P-38L. The P-38J would have no place in an early Pacific Theatre environment. Lets get some contrast before adding versions that are slightly different.

What was that line: they climb slower, are slower, and are outmanuavered by the Zero.

I think that you will find that the F4F-4 will turn rings around the F6F-5. All flight test data I have seen indicates this to be the case.
In the case of the FM-2, it will only be amplified.

Perhaps the P-38G-5-LO would be the best choice, becoming available in mid 1942. Most of the P-38s assigned to the SWPA in 1942 were F and G models. This will better represent the theater. I believe, because they (later dash number Gs) served into 1943.

I think the Wildcat sustains a turn better than the Hellcat, but the Hellkitty has a better instantaneous turn rate at respective cornering speeds (I did word that right, didn't I?)

Actually, doesn't the Hellcat have one of the best initial turns overall?

MAybe my monitor was dirty but I thought I saw 6 guns on the FM2
