Rolling Perk Set ? :)
« on: April 17, 2001, 09:32:00 AM »
Just an idea and example ( don't pick the details yet )
Look at the picture below. Two day sets, 5 phases. All planes avaialbe all the time, but prices for them change as we progress forward. It should be pretty self explainatory. Where the colors are - planes are free to use. On last 2 days, all are free.

What do you think ? Would this give 109F/202/Zeke/Spit5 it's day in the sun ?

Yes Lazs, i know you don't like it   Save you typing

Nice idea Fd-Ski...

But NO, NO, NO, and NO again.

I am personally totally against any and all forms of a RPS.

The RPS in all its forms and incarnations are the biggest cause of problems and friction among the player community that WB's has ever seen. No matter what you do, someone is always pissed.

Let the people fly what they want, when they want too, with a very few high cost perks thrown in for the thrill of it (ie like we have it now).

The RPS and Axis vs Allied arena are THE two biggest reasons I left WB's.

Just say NO! to a rolling planeset.

Prices might be too high but I like the idea very much.

A big emphatic no.

So, basically everyone should start out in a 109F4, C.202, Seafire or SpitV?  Come on... you can't be serious.

Why not just charge say... nothing for the early war or lesser used planes up to maybe $1.00 for the "better" planes on some sort of scale.  It's your aircraft until you let it get totally destroyed.  If you ditch the system would have to allow you to keep your plane though since you can land on your airfield and not be "ON" the runway and it counts as a ditch.

This way you can fly what you want to fly  when you want to fly it. You don't have to wait till you gain perk points.  But then you could keep the perk point system for people who dont want to pay extra for the planes.  they could just keep gaining perk points and use them for the planes instead of money.

I think the free planes though would have to be good perk point gererators though.

I think its a reasonable idea thats worth HTC considering, but i think it needs fine-tuning.

example:
1. what happens to fans of American gear for days 1 and 2? They currently get nudda. Obvious reasons aside why their was historically a gap there.

2. I want the ability to fly hi-cost perk planes like tempest 152 etc whenever i like (provided you got the perkies).

1. The table is based on performance more then anything else. Any of the US birds in days 1 and 2 would be quite overwhealming.

2. You can. You need 80 perk points on days 1 and 2. 60 on days 3 and 4 so on...

This is FULL planeset gents. You can fly ANY PLANE YOU WANT, assuming you got perkies

Great idea Bart!

I'm sure the prices could be massaged a little.

And to make it really work we'd need a "Day 1" plane for each major combatant.  So I'd like to see some additions like A6M2/Ki-43-II, P-40/F4F-4, LaGG-3/Yak-1, etc.

But still, a great idea whose time has come.

to me this is a complex solution to a non existent problem or.... a solution in search of a problem...

see the thread "low priority front" to see how all these "problems" can be solved without the complexity and unfairness of such a thing as rolling perks.

a BIG YES!!!

This is supposed to be a flight SIMULATION, not aerial Quake where everyone gets the best and biggest guns as soon as they step into the game.

Learn to fly at least few plane types!!! Maybe some more planes could be free from the beginning.

This "non existent problem", Lazs, is that at present everyone gets to fly their latewar planes, but those who would like to fly the early war planes at least sometimes always have to fight the chogs and nikis

With perks one could still fly them all. This would encourage pilots to survive too and thus cut down some of the wildest HOs etc. This would be a huge step towards a WW2 flight simulation.
