blau... please read the thread 'low priority front'  this is a much simpler and FAR more realistic solution to the "problem" than any convoluted and unfair perk system.

peks will allways have the worst players in the worst planes and all early war flights spoiled by a far superior plane.   This is both unfair and unrealistic with unfun thrown in too boot.

The low priority front addresses all these problems with everyone having choice, parity and realisism.   It does it in a simple to implement and simple to understand manner with as little open for "debate" as possible.
contrast this with ANY perk system..... convoluted, backward results, unfair, unfun and totally lacking in parity or any chance for it. oh.... and with any perk system but especially "rolling perk" the animosity and arguments over what is and what isn't are certain to be endless and intense.

Fun idea fd!   Where is the P-38?

Can you do one for Rolling Jerk Set?

I can help you with that list.

Verm, you did not like the HA in WB? Just wondering...

As far as I'm concerned I fly 'my' perk plane all the time, LA-7, though it's not really a perk plane. This system would give me something to spend my 250+ fighter points on.

Much as I hate paying for my tiffie... we need something to get people to try a/c other than n1kis/chogs.

Thumbs up here.

i think this a fantastic use of the perk point system, and it would spice up the MA.

Daddog, I didn't mind the HA in WB's for the people that liked it, but personally... no I didn't like it.

It involved way too much squinting at a monitor with my nose pushed up against the screen trying to figure out which side the black flashing dot belong too, which looked just like all the other black flashing dots.

I'm over simplifying it a bit, but you get the idea.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against "alternative" arena's, as long as they remain the "alternative".

But whenever someone starts trying force a RPS or Axis vs Allies, type systems into the main, I'm gonna scream long and hard against it.

Think this is a great idea, at least it may add more variation in my plane selection.

Big thumbs up

Yes Lazs,

I read that and that is also a good suggestion, but likely (not sure) much more difficult to put into practice.

If this rolling perk system came true, I bet people would still play AH and fly with what they could get.

Maybe perks should not be categorized at all. One could earn his perks in an Ostie and go fly his favorite late war fighter!!!

blau.. i don't belive the area idea would be difficult to do at all.   I think the advantages include the fact that with perks... while you may still have a loyal core of players.... you dicourage new players.  The learning curve and frustration level is just that much higher in an allready steep game.

with an area idea new guys would have more opportunity to try different planes and find one that they were good at without having vastly superior planes piloted by "vets" harrasing em.  I don't know about you but i want new blood.  I also think that any perk set is confusing but that a rolling perk set takes it just that much further down the convoluted path.   Half the time, half the guys on wouldn't even know what was available to em... the other half would be pissed because they couldn't fly their favorite ride.

with an area idea it is concievable that someone could fly one type of plane every day of a tour if he wished.   I am not into forcing him out of that plane for his own good but i want him to fly that plane against it's peers.

I am not into rewarding a bunch of flabby vets and no life online campers with superior ac either.

Lazs,

I agree with you on the possibility that this system could prevent newbies getting the better planes while veterans could always fly them. I dont use perk planes myself (tried Arado a couple times though). That is why I look at this from another perspective.

I still would not divide the fight into too many smaller fights. many times with present system there are only 2 or 3 fights on the map. That is when ther eare only some 60-70 palyers online.

I dont believe that so many people really fly their favorite plane, instead they fly the best plane available for their needs. The stress on word AVAILABLE. There are no post war jets in this game. Many would fly them if they were.

So what makes it so different from a rolling plane set??? Even in an early war set there is always some plane that is better than the others. Why would anyone have to get the late war plane there? Just like they wont get jets in present system.

I am much more for a Rolling Plane Set that just a Rolling Perk Set. Rolling the perks would be just a softer approach.

About the newbies, there is the Training Arena for finding their favorite planes.

Anyways.. any ideas that develope this game away from aerial quake towards a WW2 sim are IMHO very welcome.

blau.. with say, three areas, you would have more parity than anything we have now plus more than any rolling perk at any time.   a RPS would give slightly more parity but at the disadvantge of allmost total lack of choice for both the newbie and the "vet"... that would make it undesirable.  people would log when their "planeset" was not available.. that would, most likely, be the "mid war" set.

As to lower numbered times... with say 3 areas, early, mid and late, the fields would still be all available to anyone... unlike seperate arenas.   people would tend to go to the "area" with the most people just as they go to the "arena" with the most people now and in every other sim ever.   The problem would not exist.  No one would fly early war say if everyone else was in the mid war area.   Certainly the mid war area would dominate but that is probly as it should be since it has the most balanced and popular planes (more people like/must fly em)..

with full/nearly full arenas the area idea would really shine.  during low number times it would be no worse than what we have now or any other idea i have seen.

just taking a couple of planes off the bottom  and top of the current set and moving em down or up would make the whole planeset more fair and get more use out of em... Things would only get better yet as new planes came out.   HT wouldn't have to intro whole blocks of early planes and then figure out where to put em.

oh blau... I don't want a "WWII" sim.  I want an AC game that uses perfectly simulated WWII aircraft in as much parity as possible and... we should move this to the "low priority front" thread since fd went to all the trouble to make that nice chart and all.
