Merlin engine, great markings, good camo scheme, an aces mount...what more could you ask for?

P-40L "White 13" of Capt Ralph G. "Zack" Taylor Jr., 317th FS/325th FG, Tunisia, summer '43. Taylor was the ranking P-40 ace of the Checkertails with 6 kills in this type.

Here's a photo of the same bird. Taylor had My Gal Sal painted on the other side of the engine cowling (opposite of Duchess of Durham IV). The photo shows all 6 of his P-40 kill markings being displayed.

P-40N "White 55" of 2Lt Herbert Doughty, 89th FS/80th FG, Assam, India, Spring '44. In Doughty's only encounter with enemy aircraft during the war, he downed two Zekes and a Helen and damaged a second Helen.

I like that one. I'd fly that one one painted up like the AVG Flying Tigers (who stole the shark's mouth idea from an RAF group operating in the desert).

Nonesense. That RAF group should have been disciplined for taking the Flying Tiger's sharkmouth idea before they thought of it.

Checkertails had a much prettier livery. I like it.
