Sorry to disagree, Beef

I think just the opposite. Jaboing is good for deacking, and it should be. Precision work instead of raw destructive power.
Disabling the airfield is another animal. To achieve this, you should have to drop LOTS of bombs on target. And I don't mean on specific punctual targets, but on the area.
I think Afrika Korps scenario was closer to the real thing, in the sense that buffs dropped OVER the rnwy, and only bombs dropped on the rnwy counted. If you apply the concept to the whole airbase....
Let's figure out, you divide each base in tiny subsectors, lets say 9 subreticles for small bases, more for bigger ones, irrespective what are the buildings or structures over them. Then you add the specific targets over it, namely acks, ammo and fuel depots, and barracs. NOT hangars. Each subsector need, say, 1500lbs to be destroyed, so a small base would need 13K to be closed down fully. And the base's ability to launch vehicles, wether they are buffs, fighters or GV's decrease proportionally to the subsectors disabled.
For instance, a 100% funcional small base is able to launch 20 planes/vehicles per minute, a medium one 40 planes/vehicles per minute, and a big one, 60 planes/vehicles per minute. If 3 sectors are destroyed, a small base would be able to launch only 2/3 rounded upwards vehicles, that would have to sort the 3 sectors destroyed to be airborne, if they are planes...
Then, you have the goon carrying 20 drunks, with 10 enough to capture the base.
If you take a Lanc, you could close the airbase, but would be useless until the subsectors reup again, one by one, each with its rebuilding time from the moment they were disabled(progressive pop up of the base), that is, damage repaired.
But you could take the jabo approach, and use rockets/guns to deack and cover the airfield, and have one or two goons drop 20 drunks each (with 10 enough to capture the base). Of course, no car bombing, no guns allowed while not airborne. So there is a reasonable chance to take a only slightly damage airfield.
Ok, just my 2cts. (another 2

)
