HiTech/Pyro....Perk Point Suggestion!!
« on: March 11, 2001, 01:48:00 PM »
First of all, great release.

The perked aircraft are really really cool but the big problem I have with them is their expense.  Heck, I'd fly the Wright Flyer over the enemy CV if it would give me 10 perk points!  But I know I am having the darndest time accumulating these things.  I've got a few points I'd like to illustrate...

1.  I've been flying the Ju88 and TBM a lot to try to earn more points.  On MANY occasions, I've shot down attacking fighters only to receive no credit for the kill.  I can understand maybe not getting credit once or twice, but last night I shot down 6 people and got credit for 1.  This is so disheartening, since its a real wonder if you CAN shot someone down with the Ju88s Red Ryder BB guns.

2.  The Perked Aircraft are so expensive.  I flew all night and got a whopping 9 bomber perk points.  I generally do not fly as much as I do (and I've got the pissed off girlfriend to prove it) and it just seems that these perked aircraft are just unattainable to us weekend pilots who long a couple of hours during the week.  I think I logged 18 hours last month, according to your stats.  Can the cost of these be slashed?

3.  I've seen the troubles Wobble and others are having with their perked aircraft....where if you fly one, and return home safely, your points are zapped.  Yikes!  Tell me the perk point system is either going bye bye or severely overhauled!

Overall I'm happy.  But the only folks that are getting to fly the perked airplanes are the guys that log a LOT of time on here.  I don't log nearly as much time, but I am a paying user.  Could you try to find a common balance between the Have and Have Nots

Thanks!

Paul, I've got a few suggestions for getting some more perk points:

1) Go for fleets. Fleets are untouched and unattended most of the time - 2,000lb should sink an escort destroyer (All ships give you 5 perk points regardless of size)

2) Use the C-47 for field captures. You get a lot of perk points for this indeed.

3) Hit strat targets. I don't think I've hit any this tour but I'm pretty sure they give you a fair number of points (Though not as much as they used to)

The idea of the perk plane system though is that you DON'T get them often - of course, the 2 month head start many people have had gives them a bit of an advantage..

 I think the cannon version of the Corsair and the Ostwind should be the perk units. I offer:
                                         F4UC = 20 points
                                        Ostwind = 10 points

Duma <S!>

I got a *whopping* 2 points for sinking a CV last night.  And, you may recall that on most any mission I can, I fly the goon.  Problem is for the last 2 days, whenever someone yells for a goon, I try to help.  More times than I wish to recall, Knights say land and hold short.  I wait and wait and wait.  Then Knights decide they dont want that field and leave me stranded, or leave me exposed to fighters.  So, Im not a very *happy* gooney driver for knights at the moment.  Knights love to moan they need a goon.  They hate to cover em.  Got the films to prove it

I know what you mean about the 2 month head start.  Didnt have one here.  Closed old account, opened new one...lost all the oldies and cant get em back.

Trying anyways....just maddening when kills dont score as they should

Pay me for a month of AH and I'll give you 1088.xx fighter perk points.

The other categories I have enough perk points to buy half of an Arado... or an Arado without engines. :-)

I've flown two Ta152s. First one I lost to a 30K B17. Second one I got two kills in it, then got bored with constantly looping at a D9 and HOed him. It was worth it though! :-)

100 perk points down the drain, but I've already gotten back 20+ of 'em.

Try flying the La5FN, man 3 kills and I got 10 perk points last night.

Thanks to everyone flying the 190D9, you guys are bloating my perk points nicely! <G>

Can you change them to bomber perks???  if so I'll give ya 2 months AH for em      It'll take me that long to earn em so I may as well pay for em up front.

I also have been in Ju88 enough to see that a 3-5 point mission is normal.  I figure I'll get 6-10 good missions a week so It'll be that long till I can fly the Ar234.

Maybe they should charge $10-20 a month and then anywhere from free to $5 a plane to buy an airplane.  Then when you lose it you gotta buy another.  Then keep the perkie system as another way to pay for the planes???

Why not award the perk points of the perk bomber/fighter to the killer?

ie.  YYY is flying a Tempest.  XXXX comes by and kills YYY (XXXX is flying non-perky)...so XXXX gets whatever the perk cost of that A/C was?

Rip, since we can "create" perk planes by getting perk points, we gotta have a way to destroy em too. In your scenario YYY's plane wasnt destroyed, it was just transfered to XXX. The arena would will up with perk planes untill perk vs. perk combat was common enough to keep up with the rate of point generation (of non-perk planes). Thats gonna be alot of perk planes.

Wow, have things changed since 1.6. concerning perkies.  I agree that an adjustment needed to be made on attacks agasint faclities, but it seems a bit too lean now.  I've had successful attacks with b-17s only to come up with 1-2 points max.  Also, i dont know for sure but does air-to-air victorys in bombers even get perks?

In my opinion, i would like to see an increase in perk scoring per mission.  The new player has to be a bit frustrated with the current scoring.

I have nothing but love for the perk system as a whole.  Currently, i dont see many perk rides and flew alot this weekend.  The system is working!!
