Now I usually don't whine but...wait that first sentence is worth 5 points!

No really........I have had a couple of recent experiences with foul language being used on the "room" voice channel. Some of us like flying without headphones on, and don't appreciate this crap being broadcast into our livingrooms.......even if your kill was stolen!

Learn french ;)

Seriously, I seldom hear *** language on Voice channel (apart from the Squad channel, that is...). Most of it is still on txt channel one.

Is there a way to squelch everybody on room voice channel?  Seems to be 50% unitelligible guys with porked mics, 25% Lil' Napoleons and 25% foul mouthed tards.

I have to agree with Saw here.  97% or so room channel voice comms I have heard are useful and professional.

The other 3% are prepubescent and describe every mundane detail of their flight and thout process.  No cussing though.

Might be different for the Bish and Rooks.

HT want's you to experience AH in the raw...he stated there was to be no area or room squelch...I have stopped using my speakers because of the few a-holes that equate penile length with foul language. Untill a permanent squelch list is here we'll just have to put up with it

I strongly agree that we need some way to squelch the room channel.

This area and tower bull**** is just that. I don't want some dweeb's foul comments being broadcast all through my den and where my son is just because someone can't control their language. As far as I am concerned this is FAR worse than the text buffer. At least there you could squelch someone and it never went beyond the screen anyhow. Now with the speakers and unsquelchable vox you are FORCED to put up with this crap until you can fly away from thefield.

HT there was no reason to add tower and area proximity to the coms. If they want help they can type it on the buffer like before, I just don't need someones foul comments or just blocking tactical coms during a fight close to the field.

Please drop the area coms.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

Maverick, I agree and disagree.  The area com I can definitely see the need for, and have heard it used to good effect to coordinate field attacks, especially with new people arriving over the field.  But you're right about the room voice com.  Never have been able to figure out what the hell that is for.

I've enjoyed the range channel so far... too bad you often have some bonehead potty mouths within range. I don't think I've heard one yet.

I **should think** that a simple on/off switch would be fairly easy for a supergenius programmer like HiTech to implement. Perhaps channel 0 (zero) on any radio could turn that radio off... or set volume to zero, or something.

Do you not read???  Read MrLar's post right above yours

.vsquelch [id]

and it works too.  There's a couple folks I vsquelch as soon as I hear thier voice on range.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
