Oh my god.. I laughed so hard when I saw that last answer.  Please please please tell us how many people picked THAT one!

Oh, by the way, thanks for enabling the 1.09 planes in the DA.

no screen shot but here is what I remeber from memory:

What 2 planes would you like to see next of these:

o Douglas SBD Dauntless and Aichi D3A Val
o Yokosuka D4Y Judy and SB2C Helldiver
o I have no preference or dont know these planes
o I do not wish to vote
o polls offend me ever since I was probed by aliens that time

I'd post a screen shot but I'd first have to remember HOW on my laptop.

Suffice to say the people at HTC not only read these boards, they also still have a sense of humor.

Life is good.

Now if they'd only fix the network connections to the main (I'm sure they can do so from their desks; there's a button they push that is labeled "Fix the Internet") so I can play again...  :D
//c coad  c coad run  run coad run
main (){char _[]={"S~||(iuv{nkx%K9Y$hzhhd\x0c"},__
,___=1;for(__=___>>___;__<((___<<___<<___<<___<<___
)+(___<<___<<___<<___)-___);__+=___)putchar((_[__
])+(__/((___<<___)+___))-((___&

ROFL, I thought I was prepared I said "sheesh, how funny could it be" Funny enough... I should have heeded the advice, and not read it with co workers around lol.

From what i have read out the Helldriver:

Curtiss SB2C (Pilots dubbed it "Son of a squeak 2nd Class" SB2C, or "The Beast") Most pilots preferred the SBD to the SB2C.

Slow and ungainly to fly .In steep dives it was unstable and hard to correct because of heavy controls.

SBD Dauntless
Top Speed 250mph
Range 1,580 miles
Climb rate 1,200 ft/min.
UP to 1,000 lbs of bombs
1,000 hp engine

SBD2C Helldriver
Topspeed 295
Range 1,165miles
Climb rate 1,800 ft/min.
Up to 2,000 lbs. of bombs
1,700 hp engine

That is hilarious!  Good thing I have an office all to myself, ever since my officemate said something about going to have lunch with some guy named Fox Mulder a couple of months back and never returning ....

From what I know about the Helldiver, it was a dog of an airplane, moreso than any other dog airplanes we Americans put out (the P-36, P-39 and P-40 spring immediately to mind) but what made the Helldiver even more of a dog was the fact that it came out so late in the war, when the aircraft industry should've known more about warbird designs.   Being paired with the Judy as a choice is doing a disservice to the Judy (which wasn't a plane worth heralding either).

When I log on tonight, I'll have to vote for the Dauntless and Val.  They weren't cutting-edge when they went into battle, either, but their track record in the early parts of the war make them accurate selections for historical campaigns.

Besides, the Dauntless looks so much better than a fat-tailed Helldiver.

I voted for the Helldiver and the Judy after some quick webpage looking - by virtue of Alt-Tab I found the following:

The Helldiver was faster (about the same speed as the F6f) and sports 2x 20mm cannons.

The Val is pretty darn slow and carries less ordnance than the Judy, which is much faster.

I too was somewhat torn on the SBD/Helldiver choice - but given how AH plays - speed sure is an issue.
