Anyone wound up so  tight over something so silly as a poll, is someone that should be watched very carefully (and please god I hope they aren't postal workers).

Hey Skuzzy there were 3 people that had the view of not wanting polls and it was a direct attack on one of them .....ya know if you would work on getting your servers going as hard as you defend HT this might be a great connect finally

Gwjr3, I was not defending HTC and getting the pipe in here is and has been number one priority around here for some time.

You see it as a direct attack,..your choice, not mine.  I see it as a humorous comeback to the complaints.  My choice, not yours.

I never singled out anyone in my post.  I only know of one person who complained and I stopped reading that thread after that.  I really do not care who complained.

I am a business man and I see what HTC has done as a brilliant move which can garantee feedback from as many people as possible.  They are making the effort to allow players to provide feedback.  How can this be a bad thing?
I do not see HTC holding a gun to anyones head.  They are not forcing anyone to participate, they allow you to play even if you ignore the poll.

I do not understand anyone getting so wound up over something so insignificant.  I wish I had such trivial issues to deal with in my day-to-day life.

I must admit that I'm caught off guard by that reaction but I shouldn't have been.  I should know better than to joke around like that publicly.  It's 2002 and unwise to use levity without expecting to offend someone.    However, it was only intended as levity and if I thought someone would take offense at it, it would not have been done.  In hindsight, I understand why it was so insensitive and deeply regret it.

I would like to go on record to say that I meant no offense by it.  There is nothing funny about propagating unfair stereotypes.  I apologize to all aliens across the universe for fostering the passe image of aliens being rectally fixated.  It has been made clear that this is an unfair assertion.  I have nothing against aliens and would never intentionally denigrate them in any way.  We will also be removing from the game the UFO beaming up a giant bottle of beer.  It was not our intention to portray aliens as alcoholics or beer thieves and that was inappropriate and insensitive.  Please accept my apologies.

the funny thing is the will gladly hand over their credit card number and other personal information but they get up tight over a question about what magazines they read over the past year.

The question is who are you turning over all this alien info too?

should I expect will smith and tommy lee jones at my door any time soon?

geeshhhhhhhhhhhh

not only that, but surfing the net means you're downloading 'spyware' all the time...

they gather much more information (secretly) than HTC ever dreamed of.

HTC is up front about it.. maybe that's the problem.

not sure if or how much spy-ware you have on your system.
This little free utilty will find it and get rid of it.
run it once every day you surf becuase you're downloading it all the time.

It wasn't me, Sling - the beer will be safe :)

Even though I was on the same side as the offendee, I gotta say that I think that quitting over that poll, with its obvious attempt to diffuse a volatile issue with humor, is going a little overboard.

In a more general sense, I think that anyone who participates in the free-for-all, relatively anonymous venue of bulletin boards, chat, or newsgroups should develop a thick skin when it comes to other's opinions or postings.  Not only is the language itself bereft of context and inflection, but not everyone is good at composing their thoughts concisely.  And some people are just amazinhunks.

I think the alien option was funny as hell (hell being the funny laugh-a-minute place it's reputed to be :)), but it also showed that the HTC crew has heart, a sense of humor, and the freedom from PC nazis to express it.   Just keep the corporate logo watermarks from the HUD :D

Oh well....Thrawn had one foot out the door anyway from the way it sounds.  I think he is going way over the top though by quitting over something like this.  To each his own....and if these polls help get the early Pac planeset in quicker then I am that much more in favor of them.

As long as it doesnt affect the Hellfire.  By the way Sudz...email me.
