It was not a dumb answer.  Search the BBS for the difficulties HT has in modeling the periscope site used for aiming.  Instead of waiting until the periscope was fully modelled, they enabled the 20mms without the site.

Only way to aim is F3 and lookback.

you dont "aim" those guns anyway.

you just check ur 6 with the periscope. If a plane is there fire.

right now f3 and looking back works. Maybe even a bit better then the periscope. It give you thwe opportunity to work for a better position in order to get hits.

Their was a sight incoperated into the periscope, granted you had to slew the whole plane to bring the cross hair on, but nontheles their was a sight. I watched a Ar 234 vertain explane how it worked on a wing's of the Luftwaffe epsiode (I think it was).

It kinda makes we wonder if this is the reasion we have not seen the TU-2, it had a telescopic sight for the rear ventrill gun.

Were the AR234 cannon actually hard fixed into the plane or where they housed in pods that slewed left right as well as up down like on some 410s?

they were fixed AFAIK.  The tunnel vision of a periscope (even with a wide angle lens would still be tougher to line up a shot then using f3 now.

imho the 234 should not have the external view other bombers have. But until they get the periscope down I guess we have to live with it.

You don't, because it isn't modelled yet.
