Nice job tonight IJ pilots
« on: April 25, 2002, 10:48:40 PM »
I know how frustrating it is to be on the short side of a 2v1 battle, flying slower planes against fast, tough planes smartly flown.  I did it for two years in the WarBirds HA as part of 27 Sentai.

VF-27 is getting to be one of larger CT-only squads, and our
Tues and Thursday squad nights can cause a temporary side imbalance in the CT if it is sparsely populated.   Tonight we had 9 flyers, which was roughly half the Allied total.   Your brave opposition was appreciated, and any other time but squad time I'd be switching sides to even things out.

Heh heh.  Was a lot of fun.  Hope you ganging vulchporkers didn't take the trash talk too seriously.  We thought it was nice to have all those blue planes on the run.

More important, I think most of us are happy enough to put up with a numbers disparity in the interest of luring more squads into the CT.

Well said.   I didn't have the pleasure of tangling with you, but special kudos to Ghosth, who always seemed to be in the middle of the fight.

The one time I tried sharply turning my F4U-1 to get a gun solution, I went into a spin and augered.   So I didn't push anything after that.   Deaths count against us on squad nights.

BTW that Ki.67 with 3 or 4 of us on his tail last night-  that is one fast bomber.  I never did catch him.

Flying with your Squad is what they exist for.  Don't worry about the numbers.
