I asked HT about the clouds on the first day of the beta. He said that they're very much like the ones in SDOE, except better
Don't know how much of "marketing" there is in that statement, but that's what he said.
Personally, I'm dying to see the clouds! And then, if only they would tune down those id tags... Even better, I think it would be great if the tag would disappear completely if the plane was in a cloud.
But, I don't think the clouds add too much to the host's workload. I believe the front end handles the clouds just like it handles the landscape. Atleast in SDOE, the host's FE gives a random number at the game start, which forms an identical cloud pattern for all players in the game.
Basically, all the host would need to do, is to give the "cloud pattern code".
