new rudder pedal unit in development.
« on: April 28, 2002, 03:28:15 AM »
this is brand new rudder pedal for PC in development at the korean flight simulator company.

they just posted this picture at 3 days ago and they didn't say any of market cost or features yet.
but as you see, each pedal has a different angle so it seems to have toe brake feature....? :)
input method of this rudder pedal will be USB but they are testing general gameport also.
supporting structure for prevent slip of this rudder pedal is in develpoment so it didn't show in below images.
well, I don't know anymore but I will post if they post another info to their website.
this company's name is "NURI Aero Precision" and URL is http://www.f16nuri.com but it's writen as a korean language.

top of this image is real F16 rudder pedal unit and others are for PC.

all of below images are provided from NURI Aero Precision.

hi Nexx :)

oops..I missed some of info they were already posted on their website.

first, there are toe brake! you can control this toe brake as a simultaneously or independently.
simply, you can left toe brake, right toe brake or brake left and right at the same time.

second, they said rudder axes has a sensor. I don't know what it means exactly but I guess it's same device
like a digital sensor unit of MS precision joystick.
toe brake has two method of input. button type or analog input type. (don't know it's digital sensor also or not)

third, it's compatible with all of TM gears but there are still testing this rudder pedal with TM's new Cougar.

release date will be early May 2002.

finally, development director is former korean air force F16 instructor. Umm..!

I hope it's not much expensive.. :)

It's probably a HAL sensor, magnetic device that won't wear like a conventional pot. I've seen rudders like these before and they cost around £800 but I hope those you showed above might be cheaper but looking at the all metal construction I doubt it. I could justify the £250 I spent on my Cougar I would struggle to justify paying £800+ for a set of rudder pedals unless I won the lottery then it would be 'bye bye' to my CH Pro pedals :)

Just eyeballing the pedal castings and the cylinders and the materials and machining, that rig is going to cost at least $1000.
The real F-16 rig probably uses RVDT to measure pedal travel.  Cost for the game rig goes even higher if you start using transducers like that.  This is not going to be an entertainment product unless you are quite wealthy.  :)

they said it's a popular edition although this rudder unit doesn't seem popular edition.
I'm sure they know importance of price but no one knows until they let us know it.

well, I'm just waiting and praying :)

P.S : sancho. I heard they're contacting trading company and making english manual but I don't know either it goes to direct region distribute or developing website based ondering form.

they posted it's expected price.

price will be between 250$ and 320$. they are working on the packaging and finishing.
well, I expected 200$..is it sheer robbery? :)
BTW, it's korean market price and I don't know price of outside the korea will be same or not.

Looks good but even if that is the price outside of Korea that is too rich for me. I would like to have a set but the way I see it from a manufacturing viewpoint is that they are going to cost way over $250-$320 USD. Having just spent nearly $300 on my Cougar HOTAS I will keep my TM RCS pedals till they fall apart and I can no longer repair them myself.

At $300 the only guys getting robbed will be the manufacturer.  This will be a nice companion to the Cougar.  :)

Does the site say if the pedal angle is adjustable?  The angle looks a little too vertical for use in anything but a cockpit.
