HTC..ive passed over the target with my bombsite crosshairs dead on, presed the 'release' button, only to find my doors are
closed.  I get shot down on my next pass.
Can we get a .wav file for doors open and doors close?
I do belive this would help
thnx

Well, you do have a text notification of Doors Open or Doors Closed, together with a yellow light in the plane... in case of doubt, I just press O to see if they are open or closed. I read the text buffer and act consequently.

Maybe you want some ai to man your guns as well

Lazs you hear how tough the fluffers have it? how about a wav file for gear flaps or better yet a "door ajar" wav. or one when fuel is lo or even ammo geeeeeeeeesh

It would be nice to have an indicator in the bombadier's position as well.

The problem is that we have the same key to open and to close the doors. what about two separate keys, for example "O" to open and "SHIFT O" to close. That way u simply press O and you are 100% sure the doors will be open.

Why not just designate a target from the tower, and have an AI buff go kill it?

Sheesh.  ;)

Actually i would quite like the idea of hearing the BB doors opening / closing................. however if you forget to open them how will the absence of an opening sound help you?

How much noise does the airstream make when the door are open in real life?  If it is loud enough then that might be modeled.

Hmm, as an aside, do the door being open cause the plane to buffet at all?  (In real life of course.  Nothing seems to spill my drink in AH.)

I hated it when I did this too. My way around it was to make a macro for my stick that made the bombsight and open/close doors one big command. That way as soon as I go to the bombsight view the doors would open. My thinking is the only reason I would have to be in that view would be to drop bombs--which wouldn't otherwise happen with the doors closed. But you already know that hehe. Once you've dropped, hit that macro again and you're back in cockpit view and the doors close. Give that a try.

How would the sound of the doors opening help?

Why have gear sounds?  I use the sounds for gear up after
take off instinctively.  I Never have to look at the lights.

Flap sounds?  Let your sense of hearing take on part of
the load while your in a dogfite.

Why bay door sounds?

After a few times,  you would get used to the sound of the
doors opening as being part of the run, IMO.  Yes, I know
there are lights on the pilots dash and  I know the chat text says
open or close.  But when your inching toward your target, and
you have a p38 and 2 spits closing on you,  it would be
much more convieneint to remember the sound of the
'bay door open'  file than to go to the pilots station, check the
light, return to the bombadiers station, rezoom, recal the
crosshairs and maybe overfly the target.   Of course,
one can just check the chat text, but again, you have to
take your eyes off the target.

(I like the other idea of having a light in the bombadiers station
too, but wouldnt this create a lot of new artwork for HTC?)

Why not just have ai take over from the start?
Are u in the right thread?

I think sounds are more realistic than the chat text saying
'doors open/close' , and once again, your ears are barley
used sense in this situation and can take on the open/close
responsiblility very easily, without having to take your eyes off
the target.

I think HFMudd has the best idea by far, with the constant sound of the airstream through the doors, you would always know the doors are open
