I used to play Steel Panthers all the time when it first came out.  I was looking at the Matrix games site and downloaded the the free version of SPWaW 7.1.  Still lots of fun, new units and player mods but after playing AH for so long, the slowness of a turn based game gets a little old.

The slowness is necessary if you want to utilize realistic tactics because the lack of proper AI control. You have to manually move every troop yourself, cause they cant do it themselfs like they would in real world.

But i just love small battles in SP:WAW, with no saving between the turns. One turn takes about 5 mins in small map with 1-2 platoon size groups. Sadly most of the scenario maps are too large and has sometimes even hundreds of units to command.

Have you guys tried any of the Mega Campaigns? Trust me, they are among the best in the market.

<-- used to be a betatester for SPWAW
