(suppose she's worried about getting harassed?)
Sounds like she is already reasonably interested in AH, which is a good start! If she is worried about her performance, why not start off by showing her the mannable field/ship ack guns? That way she can concentrate on having fun trying to shoot down the enemies without having to think about flying or driving. Once she has a few kills in those, maybe move on to gunning in a bomber, followed by taking vehicles and PT boats and finally aircraft, as her confidence and skills improve. Main thing is to be sure she has fun and a chance of some success - hopefully as she starts seeing results she will want to do more!
As for harrassment.... well I can honestly say that in my almost 4 years of flying, firstly in AW and more recently here, I have
never had any kind of harrassment - everyone has always been extremely friendly.... as long as she is not easily offended by some of the conversations going on all around....
I usually find that even though I have what I think is a fairly obvious female GameID, most people who don't know me persume I am male anyway, and may only realise I am female after hearing me on vox. There may not be many of us female players in AH yet, but I am sure that will continue to change, especially as more former AW female pilots find their way here.
I know I can teach her how to fly, but does anybody have a suggestion about the second problem? Should I just give up?
No, do
not give up.... as long as she shows some kind of interest, keep pushing and encouraging her; explain as much as you can about everything going on around - the map, radio channels, squads, etc. The more she understands, the more she will want to play and improve her skills! Good Luck!
