Interestingly, after the introduction there seems to have been little progression on the armor front

Well said! :D

"Bombing is AH is relatively simple but hitting targets is not always a given. Bombing is more of a saturation thing than pinpoint from any real altitude so don?t expect to take out targets easily unless you are low to the ground, and exposed to AAA fire."

Huh?

I think what he's saying is if you are at historic operating altitudes (20-25k) and try to hit a fuel with a single 250 lb bomb, you do need some skill or practice...try it, you must be dead on to hit it and take it out with a single bomb from that alt.

Well written.

A fairly well thought out and written review I'd say

Great article, but I have a couple of questions...

The mobile AA guns are quite useful in the game, particularly in defense of airfields but I haven’t seen too many tank vs. tank battles.

When do you fly?  You must only fly when Mindinao is up... most of the other terrains have some good ground rumbles.  Especially the lake map.  I definitely agree with the lack of hiding places for armor though.

Individuals have the opportunity to man the guns in the task force with the express purpose of protecting the carrier and attacking enemy forces. It hasn’t been fully fleshed out yet but it should be an interesting add on for later games.

Did I miss something here?  What hasn't been fully fleshed out about the task groups?

Nice review, the only points I think that were perhaps skipped past a little too quickly were how good the comms are in relation to the ease of use (ie no exchanging IP addresses just type a number) and what an impact this had had on the arena and also the fact that the CV group is steerable by the players them selves with a nice easy to use interface.

Don't mean that to sound critical just my thoughts on a good review overall.

WKlink: Overall, a good review.  I especially appreciate the paragraphs about the CT and events.  Well done.

One of the best articles I have read about AH.  You  appeared to really have taken some time to get to know it.  Well done.

I skimmed most of it, 7 pages is long for a review.

You included a pic of a user made terrain texture when discussing AH's terrain.

Alpo I never have seen too many tank vs tank duels in the game.  Maybe I am on at the wrong times but I just haven't seen that many.  I do tend to fly in the CT more than the main so maybe it was just me missing it.

As for the fleshing out of the task force gun manning it just seems to me that the manning of the main guns and the aa guns are just starting in the game and that probably this will take on more significance as the game advances.  Again, just a feeling on my part.

Good point on the comms Revvin, didn't think about the fact that unlike RW or BC you don't have to dial in an IP to communicate.  I could have talked more about it but I was probably way over on my article as it was.  I am turning into the Cliff Claven of sim article writing as it is.
