Ditching on a CV

Is it possible to ditch on a CV.

Gear up landing on a CV I always just fall through the deck and crash.  Occasionally, I will bounce a few hundred feet into the air then blow up.

Is it just me or does this happen to everyone trying to ditch on a CV.

What are you flying?

How fast do you hit the deck?

Aye, it's a humiliating experience, but with continuous practice you'll get the hang of landing at the carriers. Some people even land 262s on a carrier, ya know :D

 The largest problem is the limitations on the view. Try memorizing the height of the flight deck at take-offs. That helps in practice. After a short while you get the hang of it and land at carriers with ease.

Most recently I was F6F with left gear damaged.
Tried to belly in.  Must have been 100 TAS, not much more, came in and made it, all seemed fine but before I came to a stop I blew up.

Before that I was F4U1 similar situation, bellied in very near stall  but as soon as I touched I bounced about 500 feet into the air and just hung up there for a good 3 seconds kind of rolling inverted then made a very strange slow decent down to the water and exploded.

There have been a few other times over the ages.  Just seemed like more than a coincidence, thats why Im finally asking if Im the only one.

Kinda looks like it.

If your speed was sufficiently low, the bounce can only mean that your landing angle was too steep. The plane would hit the deck, bounce up and explode.

 This means you are approaching way too high, nose down above the flight deck in desperation of a landing and then crash and blow up. When it looks like you are approaching too high, don't be embarassed and just abort the landing process - gears up, throttle up, circle and reapproach.

I had never tried to ditch (no gear or hook) on a CV before. I took up an F4U1 (a plane I know I can stop short with gear) and tried a few times. I couldn't get it to work at all. I would come in perfectly, but as soon as I hit the deck.... BOOM. I tried to come at it from the bow (avoiding the wires) but that didn't work either. Maybe it's possible, but I can't get it to work. Fester's probably right.

On the CV, if your wingtip barely grazes the superstructure at any speed from 1mph to 300, you'll blow up.  Yet on an airfield, I've practically cartwheeled F4Us down the runway losing wingtips and rudders before coming to a stop and it's been called a successful landing.  I'm guessing that on the CV, nothing but wheels can touch the CV or boom you go.
