Very Slow Frames in Aces high.. HELP!
« on: May 08, 2002, 01:35:34 AM »
I took some advice from you all and took the
GeForce4 MX 420
back to the computer store......

I Purchased a GeForce3 Ti200and
Im getting the same SLOW Frames............

4 - 21 FPS In Aces High
Avg. FPS  11-15

Ive Download/Installed the latest WHQL drivers,AGP miniport
Drivers ,ViA 4 in 1 Drivers.............

My system specs are..............

O/S  win98se
DirectX ver. 8.1 (4.08.01.0881)
AMD 750MHZ Athlon w/double fans
Via AD-11 (FIC) motherboard
384MG RAM  (SDRAM)
300watt P/S  w/fan
ATX case w/fan
19" MAG 800v Monitor

Ive adjusted my BIOS and Card/display settings.........
The only problem I can find is an IRQ conflict.........

---- See IRQ 11 -------------
Im sharing my Ethernet adapter with
my AGP Card!!!!!

How do I resolve this?????
Do I just change my Network card to another slot??

Thanks in advance

get your NIC on IRQ 3

are you only running AH, nothing in the background?

try to turn of ACPI function it hose  up many things sometime  land check MB manual about IRQ slots sharing repartition

if they  are AGP your problem can be only bios seting related  if you teling the drivers are corectly instaled and configured

As long as your video card is on it's own IRQ, you will be fine.  Same with your NIC.  It doesn't have to be any specific one.

Now, you have not mentioned what resolution and color depth you are running with.  Also, do you have FSAA turned on?  That will greatly affect framerates.

Other things to try.  In BIOS try changing your AGP apature size to 128.  If that doesn't help, set it back to 64.

Also, try the 23.11 Dets... some of the "later" ones don't work all that well.  Even give the 14.10's a shot.  Between driver version installs, clean out with Detonator Destroyer. http://www.guru3d.com look for the Detonator Destroyer link on the left side.

Thanks for the help......
Ive tried several different combinations of colors depths and
resolutions..None seem to make a difference ..Frames are
about the same with every combination.

Ive also tried adjustig the AGP arpature size with no effect.

Im in the process of trying different Dets...........
I'lll keep posting till  this is right.........
    Thanks all !

Its really strange how a GeForce3 Ti200 64MB DDR AGP
can have about the same FR as My old
PCI 32MB Savage4..................

so,I checked my BIOS ver. and its old (1999)
I have american megatrends bios ver 1.17..
