Glad you're safe, Durr.  I wasn't sure if you flew on T-39s or not.

This makes 3 planes down in the Gulf here in the span of a week.  Condolences to all the families of the downed men.

Hey Dan, were any of your guys up at Paine Field in Washington about a week and a half ago?  A Navy T-39 in training colors shot a couple of approaches.

Search now called off, no survivors found.  4 debris fields located so far.  This is the first T-39 crash in 25 years, last one was out west sometime around 1977 (T-39D crashed due to structural damage caused by severe turbelence, 5 killed).  Since then, until Wednesday, our squadron, (VT-86) has had no accidents, which makes us the safest squadron in Naval aviation history, with over 330,000 accident free flying hours.  No word yet as to what could have happened to cause the mishap.

I actually had considered hopping a flight Wednesday as an observer, but decided to go home and work on charts instead.  There but for the grace of God.......  Oh well, back into the saddle next Tuesday.

CMC, that was one of our T-39s you saw.

May perpetual light shine upon them and all lost in service to the country.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."
