Just follow the procedures step by step and there shouldn't be any problems.
Make sure you create an emergency floppy disk as described in *EMERGENCY PROCEDURES* prior to the flash from your hard disk.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Create a directory in the root of your hard disk and name it BIOS.
Download the necessary files from the motherboard manufacturer and extract the files into the BIOS directory. (awdflash.exe and the bin file)
Take a piece of paper and write down the name of the flash utility file and the name of the BIOS file including the .bin extension.
*Turn off the computer*, do not just reset because there will still be data in RAM.
Restart the computer while holding down Ctrl + F5, you will get the message "Windows is bypassing all your startup files" and you end up at the DOS prompt.
Type in cd BIOS and enter to access the BIOS directory you created.
At the C:\BIOS> prompt type AWDFLASH *.BIN /SN/PY/CC/ and then press enter to run the BIOS update.
(*.BIN depends on your motherboard model and version code for example "cn75clv-q7.bin /sn/py/cc").
You will see a progress bar and the messages: Programming BIOS, do not disturb and do not turn off the computer.
When everything is done (the whole process takes about 20 sec) you will be asked to restart your computer.
Warning! If the message "Write Fail While Award FLASH MEMORY WRITER" verifying Flash memory appears, repeat the process, * DO NOT* reset or turn off the system.
If the award memory flash utility was not able to update the bios successfully, you system may not able to boot up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*RECOVERY PROCEDURES*
Just in case something goes wrong during FLASH PROGRAMMING - the system is powered down too soon, etc. - the system will not show video when it is rebooted. If this happens, listen to see if any beeps occur when the system is powered on. If beeping is heard, the system should be recoverable, if no beeping is heard - assuming the speaker is working correctly - the system is probably not recoverable.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Copy awdflash.exe and the bin file to a floppy disk.
Create an AUTOEXEC.BAT on the floppy with a line such as the following:
AWDFLASH P5T30B4109.BIN (Substitute the correct BIOS or "bin" file for the mainboard you are using.)
After creating the floppy run scandisk to ensure there isn't file corruption.
Reboot the system. The system should read the floppy and reboot automatically after it has recovered the BIOS.
In the event that recovery procedures are not successful, a new BIOS chip will be required.
