Another post got me to thinking about V1's

Could v1's be added to AH?

To prevent over use perk them to 50 or 100 range.   No return of perks if you hit something.

Limit amount available to each country to 2 launch points that are placed randomly on the maps, not movable,  and somewhere around 25 at each launch point for the duration of the map.  No resupply.  Once they are used they are gone until next map.

Targeting is the same as that for ship guns.

Damage is by a radius, say 1/4 of the size of a medium base.

Speed is that which will allow fast planes with proper attack to catch and kill.

Killing the base, after determining where it is, is same as anything else.

what it brings to game?  Another aspect of WW2, the possiblity of doing major damage to a base, the ability to try and kill a V1 in the air.   Triangulating the flight paths of the V1's or bases hit will give mission planners another target to go for.

Possible keep the range limited so it would not be able to hit a HQ and kill radar.

No V2's.

Good idead, I like it.

It should be more expensive than 50-100 perks. Maybe even 200-300.

since they are balistic missiles it would be wise to use gunner perks to use them.
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

V2 is a ballistic missile, V1 would more properly be called a cruise missile.  Also, the V1 carried very little payload, damage done to a base should be insignificant.  Would be fun to hunt them down though, only about 7 or 8 fighters in the game that could catch one.

It would be no more fun than shooting AI guns on the ground.  There is NO skill vs skill challenge in that scenario.  It's you chasing a buzz bomb that doesn't do anything.

I don't see how that makes this game any more interesting.  You might as well be playing offline versus the drones.

Hans.

But there's bugger all skill in a lot of the stuff in the MA, short of people deliberately choosing to NOT fly uber-planes.  There'd be no reason why the speed of the V1 should not be as per real - the faster fighters of its day could catch it, just, some would need to shallow dive after it.

I'd vote for having their payload do what it would if it were a normal bomb, but allow quite a few of them.  They were very inaccurate, and small, and hard to hit, as well as fast.. ANd if you ran out of ammo, you'd have the fun of trying to tip them over with your wing.

But I don't think theyd add much to the game as it stands ATM.

Would be a nice addition to the BoB in the CT along with the new radar sites in there.

Cool stuff

IMHO, it would add to the game.  What are gunnery perkies used for now anyway?  That's why I mentioned it.

The way I envisioned it when I mentioned it, was that they would be as close to historically accurate as possible and fully resupplyable.  The reason is that every one you fired would take perk points.  You do not get them back.  For every one you shoot, you lose a chunck of artillery perkies.  They would have to be inaccurate, but capable of long range.  They were terror weapons.  Long range would give countries the ability to strike deep into NME territory with little risk to themselves.  I think their inaccuracy and relatively small payload would make them best suited to hitting strategic targets as opposed to fields.  They probably wouldn't do much damage, but if you sent 4 or 5 of them to the NME's HQ, you might be able to pork their radar.  That would be the incentive to track them down.  It would also be a reason for people to take the Tempest and some of the other fast perk planes (can a TA-152 catch one?).

Finally, that would be a great strategic target for Jabos.  It should be easier to kill than a base, but not worth sending a heavy in.  It'd be good for a B-26 to hit too.

Yess...V-1 would be cool. But not for 50 perks...rather 3 or 5 maybe. And bomber perks or artillery perks, or both?
Aimed with the mouse with altitude preset. Fairly inaccurate, landing within, say 1 sq mile sector of aiming point. Payload 2000 Lbs, so if it hits anything, BOOM. And the possibility to fire them up in salvos with, say 2 minutes in between......
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Note that V1s werent used in the Battle of Britain for whoever proposed that they should be included in BOB setup.
