Typical low-cultural yankee explaination, blaming Europeans and other intelligent nations for the American traditional ignorance and bad manners, resulting in patologic arrogance, based on their so-called "prosperity" of a soap-bubble "capitalist" economy, basically resting on so called "free market" of trading useless pieces of paper on stock exchanges.

This part at the end makes sense (and it's the article author's opinion, not Hutton).

Its the wonderfull thing about America...

There's enough people from every part of the world so that no one particular nation feels the need to accept responsibility for our behavior... though virtually every nation has contributed to our culture in some way.

that's the point of the story really.

I guess you need to have kept up with the recent Post editorials to get the full effect of what he is saying. For my part, I was swept up in a bit of the Antisemitism/Le Pen hype that spewed forth from the Post over the last few weeks. This editorial helped me even my keel a bit. Not only about our own media perceptions of Europe, but about the Euro's media perception of us. This board is my biggest "direct" outlet to those perceptions. It was in the interest of better understanding on both sides of the Atlantic that I posted the Article. Not to make much ado.

Besides, don't you have some Augering to do?

A lot of what europeans say about US is true. The extent is often overblown.

For example it is true that american citizens shoot each other. But there may be different ideas what commonly means.
