geforce 4 4400
« on: May 13, 2002, 11:48:53 AM »
hello all , i just upgraded my system from a radeon 64 ddr to a G4 4400 , im new to the nvidia driver numbers and i was wondering what is the best det. for this card ,its runnin the stock drivers 28.32 but i see that there are 28.80 28.90, 29.20's just wonderin if i should DL the higher number drivers or just stay with the ones i have. i have also noticed that my refresh rate is lower than it should be in 1024x768 it should be 85hrz but it will only give me 75hrz. ive seen refresh rate fixes for xp but this is happenin on win98 . i have to say this is the best upgrade ive done to this point, runnin 4xfsaa  and gettin a rock solid 75 fps, id load a screen shot but on a 28.8 connection it will take forever. im runnin a 1.4 t-bird 266 fsb........ 512mb pc2100.......pny geforce 4 ti 4400 .....28.32 dets.....win 98se    any help is appreciated        thx   38

38ruk, if you aren't having any problems, then just leave it alone.  You can really cause yourself a lot of headaches testing the newer "experimental" drivers.  Reverting back to the older versions can be a little bit tricky as well.

I am going to echo what bloom said. I have been running the 2832 drivers since I got my Abit GF4 Ti4400 a couple of months ago. The thing has been super stable and I have only had to apply the nVidia refresh rate patch for WinXP. That is the only real issue I have ever had with the card. Oh and it will o/c like a hotrod as well. :D

Regardless of recommendations, new drivers etc.

IF IT WORKS, DON't SCREW WITH IT!

If it doesn't work... well stick to WHQL tested drivers at the minimum.

Sound advice lep.   Someday, I will heed it.
