It's a Mig, In USAF markings.

As memory serves me, the first operational jet Mig.  I have a book at home that identifies it and describes it.

Unfortunatily, I'm at work now.

I'll guess a Mig 9.

Shipped in parts by a Douglas C-124 "Globemaster II" transport to Wright-Patterson base in Dayton, Ohio (where today's U.S.A.F. museum is located), this Yak-23 was test-flown by Collins, who had already flown the MiG-15 of a Korean deserter in September 1953. After a month of testing it was dismantled, and then left as it came, aboard a C-124.

I'm sure some small group of opportunists in some satellite nation got a nice little rental fee out of the deal :) Or maybe a little political assistance on some local issue. My guesses Hungary? Czechoslovakia? Yugoslavia?
