Destroyers
« on: May 14, 2002, 08:00:33 AM »
I just read about a Destroyer sim over at SimHQ, and it got me thinking.
Why not add destroyers to AH, same way to controll these as the PT boats, just add some perks to the destroyer (like 100 points?), personally I think this could be cool.

After all, we will need some ships to drop the dept charges at the submarines we will get in 1.11 :D

Only thing is, I know HTC would have made the Destroyers cooler than this ;)

Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

I don't believe so, Rip.  The ships you are refering to were WWI US ships.  They didn't have casements around their main gun turrets, and didn't have casemented secondary guns either.  Its hull lines are also too rakish, especially at the bow.  Fifty of the "four stackers" you're refering to were taken out of mothballs and transfered to the Royal Navy under Lend-Lease before the USA entered WWII (Russia got a few too).  The Royal Navy was so hard pressed to provide escorts for convoys they were taking anything that even resembled a warship.  The picture above looks more like a Japanese DD, though I'm not sure which class (it's a pretty poor 3D representation).

I to hope that with the addition of subs that there will be player-conned sub-chasers to fight them with.

The PT boat should be free as it is today, but several of the boats you pictured russian, should be modelled and aviable for the players at a Perk Cost.

I'm looking at your 3d models and they seem pretty good. What Game are they from ?

The DD has the hull number of the USS Benham DD-397  but has the appearince of a Bagely Class DD.

The First BB look like the  French Richelieu Class   ( Richelieu or Jean Bart)

The next BB confused me for a minute since it looked like the superstructure from the King Georgre V Class but only has 8 guns.  I then remembered that the Royal navy built 1 more BB after the KGV class.  That must be the Vangaurd.

The last pics are the New York Class  ( New York, Texas)

What Game are these from ?
