LOL.
I set up nose low, diving slightly to the merge at 0G. At about D1.5 I'll level a bit and roll a bit to one side under his nose to make him miss. I turn that roll into a pull up, likely a hard one, but it depends on the relative energy states, and do this at about 500 yards. At this point, if he's tried to shoot me, he is going to overshoot below me as I lead-turn him vertically. Advantage Jug.
The only time I'll take an HO is when I either have not enough speed to do anything else, or some goofball decides to try a HO shot in a Zeke versus my Jug, in which case I'll blast him and fly through the explosion.

If I'm really fast and can't turn too well, I may take it too from long range.

A pig is a pal, who'll boost your morale, Though mountains may topple and tilt.
When they've blackballed, bamboozled, and burned you, When they've turned on you, Tory and Whig,
Though you may be thrown over by Tabby and Rover, You'll never go wrong with a pig, a pig,
You'll never go wrong with a pig!" -- Thomas Pynchon, "Gravity's Rainbow"
