Those added for you and those added for others. If you like a particular plane addition, it is meant for you. If you don’t like a particular plane addition, it is meant for others. Unless you’re a pretty easy going person, not every plane will be for you. That’s why there’s so many of them to choose from and more on the way all the time. Don’t begrudge others because you don’t always get what you want.
I choose the planes that we add in every version. It’s a balancing act between what is needed for this and what is needed for that and what is needed for now and what is needed for later. It’s not done by committee and not all things are added for the same reasons. Nor are they added with the thought process that AH gameplay and setup is static. AH is expanding but expansion is not an overnight process. Some people argue that there’s not much to do with early war planes so why do them. I see it from the opposite side that there’s not much to do with them until you have enough of them to do something with. That's not something we wake up to find on our hard drives Christmas morning, it's a lot of work and time done in increments.
In the previous game I worked on, I stewarded the implementation of about 60 planes or so and now I’m going into the 70’s here. Of all of those, I don’t recall ever putting something in where someone didn’t complain that it wasn’t what they wanted. I must be making some terrible decisions because in over a hundred tries, I still haven’t found a single plane that all people unanimously want over everything else. People always act like it's real obvious, but it never works out that way for some reason.
It is a given that there will always be somebody to pooh-pooh whatever addition is announced. Big deal, why make it into a hubbub? To me, these threads get to be like watching a latino soap opera on telemundo- overly dramatic and incomprehensible. Why is it that somebody pooh-poohing a new plane seems like a bigger deal than the new plane itself?
