I don't know what's going on in the BBS lately, but there is some nastiness that needs to end now.  It's hard to find a thread of any length that hasn't turned into a flamefest.  Everybody loves good repartee and sharp wit, but that's not what this is.  There is a big difference between gentlemen partaking in some good natured verbal fencing and low-browed cavemen trading club blows to thick skulls.  It is a drag that greatly diminishes the usefulness of this board to everyone.

Unfortunately, nothing that I say will change anything.  Actions definitely speak louder than words in this case.  If you want to be nasty to people, I suggest you find somewhere else to do it or you'll find yourself taking some time off from this board.

No me gusto

How you spend your own time has nothing to do with being fed up with irate posts on the boards.

:D

(For those who don't know look up the verb gustar then look up the meaning to No me gusto.):p

well spoken sir! Only gentlemen with sharp wit and manners to match should partake of these erudite discussions.

That eliminates most of the american colonials of course, not to mention the 12 yr olds but....

and can we have the Pfeil soon please?

Well said, Pyro.  I want to browse the board less and less with all the crap that gets posted.

All you HTC guys keep up the great work.  There's no better online sim out there.

Looking back on all my years in Flight Sims I’ve come to realize that there are people who play to fly, and people who play to ‘talk’.  There are people who play for fun and people who play to create ordeals.
Sadly, the latter are the most voracious posters because they see that it’s impossible to stop them.  They have the perfect form.  The more you take issue with their actions, the more they love it.  They get the attention lacking at home, and for once in their life have something like a personality.
I know it must be frustrating to set up a BBS and have it’s intent abused.  But please don’t waste a lot of time trying to ‘solve’ this problem because I don’t think you can.  ‘They’ will always be there but they are a minority that most of us ignore.   I hope this helps.

Very well said otto and I must admit I've had a very hard time ignoring them lately. That makes me part of the problem. Thx for the insight.

otto ... when you say that's a minority you're right. but lately the quantity of "low level" post grow badly.

hitech and pyro cant change the actual situation by simply posting a message like above. WE HAVE TO FIX THAT BY OUR OWN. i wouldnt like to see HT restricting the board or use the "ban" function of the vbulletin board.... and specially i wouldnt like to see the Ht team loosing their motivation to build planes and maps for us becasue of unconstructive and fruitless critics.

ps: a possible measure to keep the bbs a bit cleaner would be to engage a few serious AH players you know from the past, as "OPERATORS", which may have restricted admin. rights to control the content .. i'm in if you need one. so at least you HT can share some duties.

so lets give it a try to get back to a normal content and give the HT team the credits they diserve for that work.

Frued mode on:

Pyro, why do you hate yourself?

Pyro, do you hate your mother?

Pyro, do you hear voices telling you to hate yourself?

:)

Maybe he is talking in Texican?

Seriously, I agree that way too many on this board just look for ways to insult and be nasty.  It gets old.

If everyone would just agree with me all the time, it would be a much better place, because then we would all be right.

:D

While this is true, I'd like to say that it does help alert some of us to our behavior. I mean, I defy Ottos type casting since I don't talk much at all in the Arena, but I can be a huge jerk on the boards. I'm honestly not sure if I'm part of what is being addressed here, but I did take part in "Troll Fest 2002" over on the OT board (apparently that "less serious" part of the discription didn't get through to some) and I did take a shot at Ripsnort just today (but I don't think there are any hard feelings there).

Anyhow, for someone like me, Pyro's post is a great way of saying "Hey, love muffin, cool it already" So in the future I won't imply that Rip is an a-hole, or say that Mathman is a Go-tard (even though mathman knows he has my respect as much as anyone in the game does).

The point? Oh man, I'm not used to having one of those.... the point is that while the above post won't magicly fix everything, it should help some of us choose the right.
