Configuring throttle for Vehicles
« on: May 15, 2002, 02:50:55 PM »
Been using the joystick to control the throttle for GVs since I couldn't figure out how to map the throttle to my tqs. Planes work fine. Just got a TM Cougar and the springs are so stiff that there is no way I'll use the joystick to control the throttle.

Anyone tell me how to map the GV throttle to my tqs?

Thanks

I don't think that one is possible.
HT would have to rewrite the code for the GV's before it will work. At least thats my impression.

Thanks for the rsponse,  guess I'll start looking for weaker springs, no more GVs 'till then.

I don't know what Thrustmaster was thinking, these springs are too stiff. One positive however, every kill gives a greater sense of accomplishment, no more furballs for a while though.

Really?  I am using GVs all the time with my Cougar, and don't find the stiffness to be a problem;  in fact I have got quite used to it now.  :D

I finally got to that part of the manual and found it very easy to swap the axis': BTN # SWAP(joyy, thr). But in the process I discovered that the Cougar behaves differently than my TM FLCS. With the FLCS I had to constantly hold full forward pressure on the stick while in the driver's seat or I would gradually slow down. With the Cougar I just push forward and then center the stick. As long as I don't pull back from center it maintains full throttle. Don't even need the swap with this behaviour.

OR ....

Once up to speed, switch to a gun view and speed is maintained.

I did do that with the FLCS, if it weren't for the killer trees I coulda stayed in the gun view.

Stay in gun view and use rudder to steer past trees.... preferably with rudder pedals...  :D
