Detonators + XP and refresh rates...
« on: May 18, 2002, 09:33:31 AM »
I use XP Pro with a GF4 MX440 and an Optiquest Q71, and Rivatuner.
I have my desktop set to 1024x768x32bpp @ 85hz

With the 27.10 drivers I have no problems using rivatuner to fix the 60hz refresh rate fix, and then run AH at 85hz at 1024x768.

With any newer drivers, with or without the 60hz fix, AH ALWAYS runs at 75hz or lower....
My monitor makes a VERy annoying high pitched noise at 75hz.
I have tried drivers for the following monitors: Q71, Q71-2, Q71-4, Q71-5

I had this same issue with a GF2 MX as well.  The only constants are AH, XP and my monitor....

Anyone else experience somethin similar?

Go to Guru3D and download the refreshlock fix or the Detonator 29.40 drivers with the XP Refresh Rate fix.  You can also use Multi-Res to switch your refresh rates independant of the Nividia drivers.

Advise tool here http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=1457 which allows you to set refresh rates for various resolutions; you'll love it.

BTW I'm pretty sure there is a problem with this tool and the 29.11 drivers (it just won't work with those but it won't hurt anything) so use some other version...  This utility is a lifesaver for any nvidia card owner
