How to land a bomber formation?
« on: May 19, 2002, 05:08:08 AM »
WTG Pyro!
Sounds great to me how the changes are planned.

But how should I land a bomber formation.
If this formation is a box, you will crash the outer buffs with acks hangars or the sheds at the rearm pads.

Will the outer buffs count as ditches, cause they are not on the runway.

Or stay these bombers airborne and leave the formation, if the flight lead is closing a friendly runway under a certain distance??

maybe there is a dot command to tell your wingman to go into trail formation on landing?  just speculating...

If they are strung out in line on take off it seems to me they will probably go into a line formation on approach.

I have this sneaky suspicion you won't be landing too many bomber formations.  ;)

I often approach said field at 300MPH, scrub my speed with a cross-controlled high-gee roll, and then set her down in a cross-controlled skid (all in order to save time).  I'd love to see what happens when the drone-dorks try to follow that kind of landing, LOL.
