I seem to have misplaced my codecs.
« on: May 19, 2002, 06:25:19 AM »
I have been fooling around the AHV cause I am trying to create a video. So to that extent I went and downloaded the codec that would allow me to use the MPEG-4 Video Codec V3. After I installed this little gem I noticed huge problems with my CPU performance! It even jacked with AH frame rate and that is unacceptable!

To reslove this issue I went to my handy dandy Nortons Window Repair option and ran it. It found some things that needed to be band aided. After a reboot all was well with CPU performance and AH frame rate.

So I peter around a bit in AH just to verify I fixed my frame rate issue in the actual game. Then I went back to AHV and selected my section of film I wanted and saved it as an AVI. The only problem was that the window that asks you about what codec you want to use never appeared. I think when I ran Norton's I jacked up my codecs where they were now unrecognizable by AHV.

I tried following the help in AHV and loading the codecs that I could find at http://www.microsoft.com but that was no good either. Does anyone have any ideas on this...besides that I should not be jacking with my codecs?;)

You can of course get the divx codec from the divx website, other than that I'd reinstall windows
