CV Flak.. or Flak in general....

Is this stuff programmed to aim for the enemy or for friendlies chasing an enemy?

I was flying well outside the radius of the flak's barrage for a CV in my La5 playing a game of dodge and watch him climb away with a Bish 109G10. Eventually we work our way back to the CV, because I was chasing him that way. Here I am, closing at 500yds from below his belly because he screwed up when the flak chimes in. I hear *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *CLANK* and all of a sudden I am no longer closing on the belly of the 109.. no instead *I* am diving towards the ocean on fire and missing a wing, thanks to my own ack. This was around A17, and it was only the Rook CV in the area. No enemy flak belts, just the Rook's CV. After spending a good 30 minutes chasing this guy and dodging him as he dove from his perch and repeatedly missed me, I am rewarded for superior flying and almost killing him by my own flak taking me out.

Definitely something to look forward to...

And before anyone says "but it's more realistic this way..." it ain't.

Flak wasn't fired at fighters when a friendly or multiple friendly fighters were engaged with it. They let the fighters do their business.

Maybe make the flak be effective only above 15k and the AAA be effective up to only 6k?

Would work for me!

Same thing happened to me.

Closing on 109 and the second I pull the trigger to blast him *BOOM!* my whole tail section is gone. Pisses me off.

It would help if the CV group actually fired the flak, insted of it just appearing around the cv when enemy is near, thats why it can follow you everywhere BTW, because there is no travel time for it, it just appears.

The German fighters sometimes had to hit enemy bombers through their own flak. It happened  .

Allies are just wussie girly men.

No, Santa. It was because Adolf Hitler was a frigging psychopath and for some idiotic reason all them Nazi types were afraid of him. Hitler himself probably ordered that the LW attack the bombers while the AAA soldiers were told to fire.

I really wish some of you would stop trying to glorify the scurge of the earth. Gallantry was not part of most Nazi's beliefs.

And How about a modificaion to AAA flack?

Maybe make it so that if there is better than 2v1 odds in favor of friendly, the AAA flack stops firing.

Q: Who shot down the highest scoring American P-51 Ace of WW2 on Christmas Day 1944?

The flak gunners won't mistake me for an enemy when I'm shooting at the other guy.

That and those kinds of incidences were freak occurances.

Not to mention, hey this is a game. Things like killshooter exist, I don't think your flak should kill you especially when you are NOT the one running to it.

Fleek ack isn't *that* bad.

During final approach to a carrier last night I took 7 hits in my b26 without damage.

However, hblair was 2k above me and was knocked out of the sky, so maybe it's just luck.

Was it your carrier? I was fighting around my carrier at 13K and the stuff blew me outta the sky on the 5th flak shell.

If you don't want to get hit by friendly ack then it shouldn't fire at anyone engaged over the CV. I'm pretty sure ack gunners couldnt distinguish between friendly and enemy at the distances they fire in this game. I've noticed that you can get fairly close before it opens up, but once it locks onto you, it will keep firing until you can't even see the CV anymore.
