RUSH - Vapor Trails

Purchased the new RUSH CD.

Some good stuff there.  Peart has written some deeply moving passages and Lifeson/Lee have done a very good job translating the lyrics into musical works.  I was expecting something more intricate and inspiring musically but those days are better assigned to youth.

FYI: Neil Peart endured the severe personal loss of his entire immediate family several years back.  Its amazing that he survived the loss of his only child, a daughter aged 20, in a Jeep rollover accident and within a year the loss of his wife to cancer.  Gotta love, admire and respect the guy.  He obviously had deep support and love provided to him in his grief.

I am so very pleased to see that Mr Peart is back from the edge. I couldn't believe it when I heard his wife died. I know I would struggle to cope with that level of loss.

I am a Drummer and I thought we'd lost this guy. So cool that he is getting out and doing his thing again.

It's good to see that he's going on with his work and his life.  His wife and daughter would have not wanted it any other way.   to him.

As well as to Eric Clapton and Robert Plant.  Both had to endure losing young children, if I'm not mistaken.

RUSH rocks...till Geddy starts singing. I've never liked his blackboard screaching voice. It must be that 57 chevy rear fin of a nose. I've learned to tune him out and listen to instrumental music.

That's why YYZ is my favorite song!  ;)   anyone know why they named it after Toronto's airport code?  (clueless here)

Vapor Trails is one I'll need to listen to alot to appreciate - but Rush is the reason where I am today as a session bassist - songwriter - producer in Nashville

Rush is my Fav band of all time - but I am inclined to lean towards thier 70's to mid 80's albums as favorites -

If anyone is interested in carpooling to a show - I'm all up for it (within reasonable distance thatis )

Going to thier show in Nashville in August

'All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players, performers and portrayers; each is another's audience outside the gilded cage'

'plus ca chance plus se la meme chose'

Blckshp (me on tour)

Black Sheep..

man I sure could've used your talents on my project.

I had to midi program it and it just doesn't groove the same...

*edit*
YYZ is so named because of the beat...

(intro beat and riff)

it's the same timing as morse code YYZ

Nice version of la stringa wlfgng!  That's my favorite rush album :) with 2112 in a very close 2nd.  As a bass player I can't tell you how many ways Gedy Lee has inspired me, even when I spent 10 years playing guitar.

I need to get vapor trails.  I tried the day after it was released, but it was sold out at the 2 stores I went to.  I've hearn it kicks arse....

Bringing me back to the early '80's...  Alex is a pilot.  He heard that morse code identifier for Toronto airport and thought it had a catchy "beat."  They started jamming to it at much faster tempo than airport broadcasts and from that jam it became the intrumental we all know and love.

yep - cool always glad to do tracks or produce em - You can hear the Rush influence in alot of the songs I write

I am gonna try to create an introduction for AH so that it can play as a loop from the start menu - now whether it should be traditional era or something fast paced and current i dont know - should I post a thread on this?

also i will post some of my mp3's if I can figure how to compress the snot out of them using winzip
