First off, thanks to HTC, not only for such a kick bellybutton game, but for turning me on to
http://www.internetwines.com This site really kicks the cat in the face. Anyhow, I really like Single Malt Scotch. Like most beginers, I still favor the Speyside Scotches (Aberlour and Glinlivet mostly), but I'm opening up to others. At the same time however, I've been playing around with other Whiskeys. I'm partial to Knob Creek for Bourbon, but my first experience with Rye was this past week. I bought a bottle of "Old Rip Van Winkle" Which is a 12 year old Rye (which I guess means they must age in conditioned barrels, as opposed to new ones, like Bourbon.

) Now the name is pretty scarry to me. It brings up images of "Old Crow" and some very, very foul booze. But as it turns out, this was a very tasty product. I was very pleased with my purchase, and I'm glad that I went ahead and ordered it from Randal's (internetwines.com) instead of just getting a bottle of cheap stuff at the local liquer store.
Anyhow, since I don't have anything to compare it to, I was wondering if anyone else was a big fan of Rye, and if anyone knows how this particular brand compares to others on the market at a similar price ($30 per 750ml bottle).
