On Sunday I was about to take off in my trusty zeke (is there really any other plane in AH?...another topic)when some vulcher came barreling down the runway and promptly took a "dirt nap" in the runway in front of me. I didn't fire a shot....in fact I had just started to taxi...somehow I got a kill! I'm not complaining, but is this normal?

It´s called an 'manuver kill' if anyone crashes near you then you get the kill, if someone else had hit him with an few shots before then he had got the kill...

Believe it or not, I actually got 2 kills this way....in a goon!!

Some of these pilots get so excited when they see that C-47 Icon light up, they come diving at me from 5K plus, while I'm lumbering along at 200ft.

A few maneauvers, and I've seen a few less experienced pilots become craters.

It's pretty embarassing, really. (I've been on the crater side of the equation, as well)

I've seen so much of this it borders on ridiculous.

Last night I was defending a field at about 8k. A slightly higher spitfire came in so I headed his way and went over all the possible options for getting this guy to commit and blow a little E at the same time. He turned toward me and began a gradual dive. I rolled out of the HO and reversed as the spit continued to dive towards the field that was still 8 miles away.

I eventually closed within 600 yards and nailed him pretty well, but he got off some shots at a plane that had just spawned on the runway and got credit for a kill prior to flying his wingless plane into the dirt. I can't help but think that guy deemed it a successful sortie.

With 190s, its gotten to where I expect this. It does not seem to necessarily be a "newby" thing either. Probably 1/3 of the 190s I see bypass engagments to blow down an enemy runway at 400 knots pinging anyone there. Thanks for that lethargic ack HTC... it doesn't look like more than half the arena abuses it.

One pilot I noticed would get 3 or 4 kills a sortie. At least half of those were still on the runway. I fly an F6F, so its hard to catch the zoomers, but I usually get them when they turn for another pass. That pilot was 1:9 against me that day because I was only on the runway once when he came in. He was about 30:1 against most of the newbies launching from that base. Voila... a 30:10 K/D in a "hard to fly" 190.

That lethargic ack is better than the killer stuff that causes people to hide. There are two sides to that coin, for sure.

You've just figured out why K/D ratio is not a reliable measure of skill. It really has nothing to do with the plane that guy was flying; he would have had a decent K/D in a 202 given those circumstances. But this measure is easy to "cook" through vulching and/or flying very conservatively.

MrHanky....hehe Your handle cracks me up everytime I see it man...and I see it alot...you get alot of kills, I salute you...

I find 190s impossible to fly in AH...I really don't like 'em.

Well, there are also some newbie pilots who think it is smart to take off from an airfield without ack and 9 vulchers hovering above it. These vulchers are there to keep everything down till the goony arrives...if it does... normaly... but then you wont hear anyone complain about racking up the kills in the meanwhile

The 190A5 is fun down low. It accelerates well and turns reasonably well, too.

The A8 is tough to master. It must be flown fast by all means, resist the temptation to hamfist it.

The D9 is a breeze to survive in. Speed out the butt, roll, and good acceleration. 10 minutes of WEP don't hurt much, neither.

I have only really flown the D9....hated it. I find that everytime I am lining up for a shot with one that any adjustment, unless I have ALOT of speed, causes my stall alarm to start buzzing. I guess it is bad E management though....

You get used to that plane like you do the others. You can't throw it around like a spit or zeke, but you have a steady gun platform that hits hard.

There is one small penalty for flying the D9 however. Of the FW fighters it is the least lethal. One must "stick" his guns in the enemies canopy to get a good fast kill...otherwise you'll lead the league in assists.

A5 and A8 are both fun to fly.....try them both and you'll notice the difference. When you get their guns on an enemy, the enemy is a kill.
