Tour Of Duty ( TOD ) AH
« on: May 24, 2002, 06:42:49 AM »
Tour of Duty - The Tour of Duty, (TOD) is a weekly historical event that takes place in the Special Events Arena (SEA) on Friday nights at 11 PM Eastern and Saturday afternoons at 3 PM Eastern. Each tour will last 3 or 4 weeks, (3 or 4 frames). Squads who are participating in the TOD will fly Axis or Allied for that Tour. At the end of the Tour most squads will switch sides. Each squad that signs up will supply a member of their squad who is willing to be a C.O. one frame of a Tour. Frame C.O.'s will be given a list of missions for their squads to fly and they are to contact the squads prior to the frame to inform them of their mission. Success of your squads mission during a frame will often have a direct affect on how successful other squads are in their particular mission. Let there be no doubt the success or failure of your squads mission can have a "domino" affect on your brothers in arms.

So you say your sq is not in TOD as a sq and you would
like to see what all the hub bub is all abought ?

Well you can ..all you have to is check out any Sq
in TOD' they all have 2 guest spots open for guys
that want to give it a try . all you have to is contact
them say you like to give it a try

there are several sq iv noticed that only have 4 pilots
or so that fly full time and all i beleave are looking for

Will i have to leave the SQ im in you ask ??
no you do not .. you can still remain in your SQ
in the main areana and join a TOD  SQ.as not
all SQs require you to be same same so too speak
                  just for TOD

If you have thoughts along thos lines come give it a try
see what good team efforts and sacrafices it takes
                 to get the job done.

Actually .. if you contact a squad via e-mail before the event and get the C.O. to confirm he has a slot for you .. you can fly. You just have to do it before the actually event.'

You just can't show up in the SEA and ask for a slot. You need to do it before the event and outside of the SEA the night the event is running.

Makes me wanna subscribe so bad!... In TOD I know you only have 1 life but I have a few other questions:

1#: Can you land, go to tower and select another aircraft and retake off? or is that considered "Crashing"

2#: Can you bail out or ditch and go to tower? it would make sense cuz in real life if you had to ditch or bail (and were not captured) you could get back to base and get a new aircraft.

3#: How do I become a "Guest" of a squad?

4#: If I die am I out of the game for the rest of the day, however long the TOD lasts or what?

I don't even have an account yet but I'm thinking about it...
but I'd pay more like 7-10$... 15 permonth seems quit allot, but the TOD&scenarios sound so fun I might actuelly create an account eventuelly!...

No.  You can land and rearm as many times as you like, but the plane you start with is all you get.  1 life, 1 airframe.

2#: Can you bail out or ditch and go to tower? it would make sense cuz in real life if you had to ditch or bail (and were not captured) you could get back to base and get a new aircraft.

You could get a new aircraft but likely not the same day.  Once again think of it as a "one airframe" event

3#: How do I become a "Guest" of a squad?

Contact the squad you want to fly with.  You can get the list of them through the events page.  You can also look in the TOD forum for squad advertising that they need players, or put a "I want to fly, who needs a guest" in there yourself.

4#: If I die am I out of the game for the rest of the day, however long the TOD lasts or what?

[/b]The TOD is three frames.  The frame itself lasts two hours.  If you die at the beginning then you wait until the following weeks frame.  You can also join as a gunner after you die.[/b]

I don't even have an account yet but I'm thinking about it...

Wait until you are a subscriber before you join the event.  Also think of AH as 50 cents/day.  I bet you ahve that kind of change floating around in your pocket every day:)

Not so long ago, it was $30 a month, therefore it has halved in price!  Well worth $15 a month, I think, even without events like the TOD....  :D

TOD's are SQUAD Centered.

Regular SCENARIOS do accept WALKONS !

The good thing about AH is that we have MANY different styles of activities - TOD's ( both US and EURO Friendly ) , Open Scenarios, Wild Wednesdays and soon to be KOTH's - King Of The Hill.

More and more things to do outside the Main Arena.

I was wonderin why they made it where you have to be in a squad or a guest of one to join? you would get allot more players.  And I'd imagine there are hardly any people left after 2-4 hours?

And what exactly are the "Scenarios" and where do they take place? do you also have a limited amount of lives or what?

TOD's are not designed for MAXIMUM Capacity of an arena but geared toward MAXIMUM Attendence from the squads themselves.

Tour of Duty, (TOD) is a weekly historical event that takes place in the Special Events Arena (SEA) on Friday nights at 11 PM Eastern. Each tour will last 3 or 4 weeks, (3 or 4 frames). Squads who are participating in the TOD will fly Axis or Allied for that Tour. At the end of the Tour most squads will switch sides.

Go here to read more about TOD's

http://events.simladder.com/tod.php

Scenarios are more like scenarios in AW. Registrations - CO's make all the plans - Grps of pilots form together to fly together. They can be 1 or 2 frames a day usually on SAT or Sundays. 200+ Pilots going against each other in epic battles.

Sceanrios take place in the Special Events Arena ( See my sig to sign up and get frequent updates on upcoming TOD's and Scenarios ).

Please keep the questions coming !

QOUTE: "Frame C.O.'s will be given a list of missions for their squads to fly and they are to contact the squads prior to the frame to inform them of their mission."

Who actuelly makes up the missions? The C.O. or they follow historical missions? and where do they get them from?

QOUTE2: "CO's make all the plans - Grps of pilots form together to fly together. "

Do you have to fly under a certain CO in scenarios? do you have to join a mission to play or some thing?
