Hmmm not sure.

Taken from the EditorHelp file.

Quote
Each Task Group must be attached to a port.  To attach the newly added Task Group to a port, double click the FXXSHP0 object from the Selection List to bring up the object properties.  The drop down list next to the Object Data entry will have all ports listed.  Select the desired port from the drop down list and click OK on the properties window.

For your new Task Group to appear in the list in the Task Groups Tool, you’ll need to save your terrain changes while exiting the Terrain Editor, then reload the editor with your terrain.

Now you also need to

1) add a maproom, place it anywhere in an away spot.
2) make sure your CVTG's are not too close to land ( In my opinion, at least 2 miles away, 3 or more would be better )
3) allow enough room ( CVTG to land distance ) for a person to lay down waypoints.  That's if no waypoints where made while in the editor.

Now, I never had a problem with my terrains that the CVTG didn't already have waypoint built by the editor so I don't know if I am lucky or waypints are not required.

Ok, I don't have a map room, port or anything I just placed them.

But what exactly does a port do?? and why do I need it?...

I've never really under stood some of the stratigic targets and stuff in AH, Like what good are citys? and factorys? do they have any effect on anything?

cajun, not to be rude, but i suggest you take a good look through the help files.  you'll find your answers there, and there is other crucial info there that you need to be familiar with when making terrains.  here are a couple of quick responses for you anyway:

a port is the 'home base' for a task group (carrier fleet) - if a task group is sunk it respawns at its home port.  capture a port, sink the task group, and you get control of the respawned task group.  because of this, you have to define which port a task group belongs to.

the supply system (cities, factories) is covered in the help, but basically, having an intact supply system speeds up rebuild times for airfields (and vehicle bases etc) after damage, e.g. fuel, ammo, field radar, etc etc etc.  the factories speed up the field rebuilds directly (even more if trains or barges or road convoys are used), and the cities help speed up the rebuilding of factories themselves.

Hey howdy fellas.. heya Pokie.. hey Cajun..

In the help file where they talk about CVTGs the next page they talk about adding waypoints to the task groups as kind of a primer.

So when you finish doing (above).. Remember to add those waypoints before hitting save/build.

Now when you go to test your map you should see the red lines of the waypoints you just added. Go to one of the CVs.. It should already be moving.
