Hi guys. Can afford a Hotas Cougar and CH pro pedals to upgrade from MS Sidewinder FF Mk 1. BUT is it really worth it?

I guess anyone who had spent so much is not going to say "nah, it's crap", but this is a lot of money when there are other less expensive sticks, if not exactly cheap.  I would spend £100 + no probs,   bur the Cougar may be more suited to jet jockeys and MS FS 2002 crowd. Can you REALLY throw away the keyboard, cos if you can't it will be as awkward as hell. I don't mind using the keyboard for engine start, trim etc, I mean, hell theres only so much realism you can get sitting in front of a PC in your house! I can use my imagination.

Also, there are other considerations like a 22" monitor (current 19" diamond pro 900u).

Just want an honest opinion before I shell out.

Thanks;)

Hi

Im happy my Saitek X36 usb + external pedals setup.
I could program about 200 commands to the stick... Nahh!

I still use keyboard for differnet things.

About realism:
I doubt that in WW2 pilot start engine(s) from stick or throtle...
F16 HOTAS for WW2 A/C? "Real men use Cougar because its realism!"

Yeah right!

Virtual pilot HOTAS is just handy input device to control 2d output  platform...

:)

Absolutely the best TM gear I have ever used. I have had them all since the PFCS and WCS way back when they first came out on the scene. The programming is outstanding and very intuitive once you get the hang of doing it. I have been out of the TM programming loop for a long time and I am easing back into it slowly.
